r.
It does. For me, I love how it blends in with the downtown building. The one I saw was the one on the road. So all this landscape. And the door handles and the way they designed them look good, they look flush but you still see the on the retracted state. I don’t love the looks in the same way as seen at the dealer

It looks the way it does because it's the world's most aerodynamic car. .20 drag coefficient, greater than Tesla model S and Lucid Air. Being drag coefficient is pretty important to an electric vehicle's range. And I would imagine most people lease these, not pay a full $125,900+ for them.

It's definitely one of the most aerodynamic EV'S. I'm seeing more and more of them lately. A car at this price point I would probably only lease

Its essential You also need BIG batteries too which adds tons of mass. I think the EQS is like 6000lbs. S class not sure 🤔

The drag coefficient is just marketing fluff. The EQE is also jellybean shaped yet has a drag coefficient of 0.22. That's the same as a standard ICE S-Class.

.20 drag coefficient becomes a lot less impressive when you realize the Model S has a drag coefficient of .208 yet still looks like a standard RWD sedan. Mercedes made it look the way it does because that's what the Chinese market finds visually appealing, and that's where the EQS/E is primarily aimed at.

In the scheme of things, the weight of the battery is actually a benefit. It helps center the car and help making a better more stable at speed and helps make it a better handling car. My Polestar handles just as well as my IS350 due to the center of gravity, helping it in turns. Also if you're car is 400 HP plus, can get 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds and gets 100 mpg, it doesn't really matter. That said, they are getting lighter, the 2023 Polestar has the same battery size and gets 20 miles more range, all due to a lighter battery pack and slightly overall lighter weight

For me it's always a compromise for looks, function and performance. I don't have to love the way a car looks if the other two things are really good and if the looks aren't great, I'll just get it in black to hide the ugliness. I don't think the X7 or GTR are great looking vehicles so I got them in black. It's not that I think they are ugly, I don't think they look all that great. For the Model S, I really think the car looks good so I didn't mind buying it in white. The one car I did think was ugly that I bought in white was my GX460, I thought it was ugly but it did everything else I wanted really well. Another example is the Panamera, I think they are pretty ugly but I would still buy one because of the overall package and the other things it does well.

$125,000 for a car…it better look really good. The EQS is constrained by the aerodynamics in the search for range…(to offset mass from the battery)

I honestly don't think that's the reason. Nothing to do with the weight. Cars have been trying to achieve optimal aerodynamics since the 80's. ICE vehicles are more constrained whereas EV'S have more leeway due to lack of engine and transmission. As far as getting more range, that's the goal of all cars, ICE or EV.

Also as @Motorola mentioned, this design was primarily targeted for the Chinese market

understand but you lease for business (as do i) not buy so you're not paying out $120K. assuming you pay say $1500/mo. lease right now, that's $18K a year, or $54K over 3 years, so less than half of $120K.

however, just did a build on a w223 s580 (since you like v8's understandably) and with no options it leases at $2360/mo with 12k mi. a year, 3 years - so that's $85k in payments + 3k down!

still a lot of money, so sure you'd better like it. at least my santa fe at 1/3 the cost "doesn't look too bad" and i'm ok with that.

Try $2,500 a month lol

No way you can lease one of those for $1,500 a month, unfortunately. Markups, no lease deals…

S580 right now is $2,000+ a month too.

Hopefully that changes by the time I need to replace mine, or it will be one and done for the S Class for me lol

As for aerodynamics, the W223 is .22 cD, which is amazing. They can get great aerodynamics with better looks.

You were going to be done with the S class anyways, right?

Thought you were going to get an SUV this time around.

At a certain point. Aerodynamics are irrelevant to the gas S class. EQS needs to be as aerodynamic as possible. Not the S580

Not necessarily. I would get another S Class.
