Just the LX and GX that don't have it I think. I know it is on the LC, LS, UX, RC, RC F, ES, NX, RX, and IS.
You're correct- I was thinking of the IS and GS as well, but the GS was canned last year and the IS just received Carplay in its facelift.

Looks-wise, I agree. The long overhangs and tiny wheels on the new one just destroy whatever presence it had. Makes me appreciate what Jaguar did with the I-Pace even more:
if you want to play it that way, I'm not sure why you're so intensely defensive about a car that isn't out yet.
ha, i couldn't care less if the EQS bombs in the market.
You also completely missed my point about the Avalon. The Avalon is more plush and insulated than a Model S yet nobody in their right mind would consider an Avalon as more of a luxury car than a Model S.
you're right, NEITHER of them is a luxury car.

they're considered luxury cars because of the exquisite materials and designs they use and over a century's history of innovation and quality.
The Tesla Model S costs over $70K.
actually 80k.
That alone should leave no question as to whether it's a luxury vehicle.
price alone does not determine if a car is a luxury car. a McClaren is hardly a luxury car, LOL

you're moving the goalposts. i'd bet 99% of the public considers mercedes to be a luxury car brand. i'd also bet a big majority of the public does not consider tesla a luxury car brand, but instead a highly innovative tech EV maker. with the mainstream 3 and Y that have EXTREMELY plain and cheap interiors, they've certainly crushed any image of being a luxury vehicle, lol.

if you say so, i guess it must be true.
The car is awesome and everybody who doesnt like it is a moron. We get it lol
i never said such, but glad you're amused.

"A century's history of innovation and quality" you mean the badge lol.
By the way, the Model S isn't cheap on material either- it's entirely aluminum.

McClaren's are low-volume track cars, hardly mass-production brands like Mercedes or Tesla.

How so? In fact you and Jill seem to be contradicting each other, as Jill claims Mercedes is "more than a luxury brand" while you only list it as a luxury brand.
As to your second point- pretty sure the public considers Tesla to be a luxury brand:

d.
‘Just depends on who you ask and where you are in the world. Some places a cheap Mercedes is everywhere. In the US, Mercedes is perceived as a luxury brand. But Mercedes-Benz is so much more

that lacks a heads up display

that's not contradiction for one thing, but regardless, jill and i don't have to have exactly the same opinions. But anyway, jill is right, Mercedes certainly is MORE than luxury, but that's what it is in the public's general perception. If you disagree with that, we'll just agree to disagree.
but with mercedes making trucks, vans, lower end vehicles, etc., i agree with jill, they're more than just a luxury brand.
Somehow you seem to dislike mercedes, which i find funny.
As to your second point- pretty sure the public considers Tesla to be a luxury brand:
i no longer care what you, SW17LS or anyone else thinks Tesla is a luxury brand. We'll agree to disagree. Doesn't mean i don't think tesla is impressive.
Also just found this comparison to the concept, clearly did not translate well to the final product:
It is just crazy how they went from that great looking concept to that homely ugly Ford focus looking final production car. Why does a EV have FWD econo sedan proportions/looks. Nobody is going to care that shape is a little more slippery and gives a few extra miles in range in a 100K Mercedes.

I don't like this EQS or the new S-Class, Mercedes' move to Tesla-style screens, or their new design language that consists of eliminating every line and corner to create these featureless blobs. Should I say that you dislike the BMW brand because of the times you've made fun of their new cars with the pig snouts?

I remember when people were complaining how every recent Mercedes was taking design cues from the A-Class. I guess they went full circle and gave their flagship EV A-Class proportions.
I find the argument that this doesn’t compare to the Model S funny, comparisons to the Model S are going to be obvious and expected. This car was designed to be an answer to the Model S.

I think a lot of it has to do with crash safety regs.
Interesting review, edmunds doesn’t get enough love anymore . Nice close up of the interior. Although I would never buy one and I don’t love screens . But the screen is next level. Any auto fan or enthusiast should find it interesting. If cars go to screens like this in the future, then it will be interesting to see the progress (good or bad)
I also did not know that this was a hatch back in the rear. Also seems like it was designed primarily for the Chinese market.
I’ve watched all the videos too, I just don’t think it’s an attractive car outside. Sure it’s way nicer than the Model S inside, no surprise there. I wouldn’t buy this or a Model S.
What I do like is Mercedes approach to better range vs more ridiculous performance. 450 miles of range That would absolutely work for me.
Honestly, if I liked the looks of it I could see that being my next car but it’ll have to wait to see what else comes along.

really? I found this particular video to be not great. Edmunds doesn't get love because they lost all their good talent, like Carlos Lago. He left for motor trend, but then came back to Edmunds, but doesn't nearly do enough videos.

Well. The video went over the interior quite nicely. I found it to be informative
