Once again, Hyundai is off in a new styling direction. This company has some serious A.D.D., but it's for the better in this case. Very prominent and sharp styling, or a nice mix of 7-series, GS, Avalon, and A7. If it had more of a formal trunk instead of the compact car hatch-look, I'd say this is one of the best-looking sedans to emerge in 10 years. Only downside is it makes the Azera look plebian.
odd front hood gap - no likey (bit like the ES), but other than that, from that shot and the others at the link - looks very refined and classy.
Unfortunately the Optima has that odd hood gap as well but it grows on you... not sure if the Sonata has that but that seems to Kia/Hyundai styling.... looks pretty good so far..
I realize they copied every German car known to man but at least they copied the attractive ones...lo
This has more "presence" than the previous model and if they add some more distinctive styling to the R-Spec model I may buy it and get rid of my r-spec coupe or sonata.

I agree with you that the previous model is kind of Bland but this new looks pretty good... Interesting to see what the R-spec has to offer... Still around 50k for the R-spec i think
In fact, I was doing a comparison between a Peugeot 508 GT Diesel and a Hyundai Azera 3.0 V6.
It was a close match no doubt and I believe that you can't go wrong with either car. However, for some reason, I was convinced that I would prioritize the Peugeot before the Hyundai.
Well no matter what it looks like, you have a 2nd gen RWD V-6/V-8 car which continues to elevate Hyundai even if it hasn't caught fire with sales or the aftermarket. Like the previous model, it is inoffensive to look out with good proportions of a proper luxury vehicle. Surely it will drive better too. There is a niche for this car and the Equus.

Closer to $45k. Ive seen 2013 r-specs selling for $40k. In truth if the new r-spec is not substantially better looking than the outgoing model then purchasing a 2013 - 2014 R-spec in the 35-38k range could be the bargain of the year.

The Hyundai though has a V8 offering. I don't think the Peugeot does? That's the deciding factor for me
