My friend I wasn’t born in this country and grew up in a immigrant neighborhood where most ppl don’t speak English, same for my wife. I got my Real Estate license when i was 18 while in school and did open houses on weekends and some rentals. Lots of cold calling. Anyone can get this type of job bec it’s all commission. As a result I was able to make some connections and over time save up $$$ while going to college. Then the real grind began lol
I’m nothing special and many ppl in NY are just like this. Came from nothing but it’s just different mentality.
I can’t understand being in USA for multiple generations and not having Millions if you just use 80% effort.

There is not enough space for me to write on this subject, so I'll just say kudos to you for making something out of yourself. You are one of only a small number of people who made themselves from nothing. Most people just don't have your drive ambition, and most don't know how to save money in the first place, which is something immigrants are better at

In my case... my daily driver is a truck that only gets 17mpg. I drive it about 10k miles a year. At today's prices it cost me $1.17 more per gallon than it did in February. That's $13.23 more per week! I had considered getting a compact car costing $30,000 to obtain 34mpg but that would require 2,267 weeks (43 years) to break even just on the difference in gas consumption. Unfortunately, 40 years is well beyond my anticipated personal expiration date.
Fortunately, my wife reminded me that eggs which were approaching $8 a dozen are down to $1.69 at our local grocery store. I feel better now.

Fortunately, eggs are optional, gas isn't. That extra $6 you're saving on eggs is probably now paying a fraction of the increase on your utility bills.

Sam's $3.49. Up 7 pennies from yesterday = 79 more pennies a week to fuel 17mpg my truck. That compact 34mpg car is looking more appealing every day. Meanwhile, I'll have to adjust the thermostat. Thanks for the reminder.
Covid was devastating for many especially if you had a business that was impacted but that was extraordinary event.
I think young people don't have the ignorant boomer views of the world, and see it for what really is, and wisely choosing not to bring children into it.
Young people are too distracted on tiktok to even go out forget about sex and kids.

My spouse grew up poor, started at the company he works for at 19 years old at $9 an hour just as a basic employee.
And oh, we save. We live like a couple that lives on $50,000 a year combined. Our income is wayyyyyyyy more many times over.
