I’ll never move away from the west coast. Yes, our gas and sales tax are expensive, but I have no state income tax, and it’s beautiful here. I’m not leaving. $2 gas or not.
Put it into an inflation calculator, prices are much higher than simply accounting for inflation. As much as twice that.
And people were crying holy hell in 2022 and it impacted an entire presidential election. Yet now it’s no big deal lol. Hilarious.
I don't know if someone said no big deal but I did say it was high or higher before, why all the fuss now? Like other "things" it seems like things will get echoed louder when they fit their narrative.

If they survived the spike, this shouldn't be an issue, right? Especially when "100k is no longer a 100k" Lol.
After a LOT of consideration I declined the job offer. You know, just couldn't move away from the west coast...lol...
And you get to keep the GS!

Thats my point, people were raising hell in 2022 and now its no big deal.
Gas prices and high living expenses are always a problem. I said it was a problem then and I say it is a problem now.

I'm not sure I see your point. "people surviving" shouldn't be our goal. The people in power were put in power because prices were high and they said they would bring prices down to help struggling people...and they have done nothing but take actions that have further raised prices. THATS the problem. This situation with gas prices is directly their doing and for no good reason.
doesn’t work that way. u.s. does not supply 100% of its own oil needs. u.s. is a ‘net’ exporter, but still imports a ton… a load of which is from canada.
oil is a global commodity and global supply and demand drives the price globally.
Yeah it does work that way, we produce more than we use so as long as the refineries are here it will never affect us. Canada is the USs hat after all

As if the people in power have been serious people in the recent memory. It's fair to say that many struggling people had high hopes in the current conman, I don't think anyone has anymore faith in the system.
The advice I give to young people is to not have children, this world is too messed up.

The idea that we "produce more oil than we consume" is a misnomer. Its accurate, but we don't produce more of the specific oil we need than we consume. We produce mostly light crude, while our refineries are designed to process heavy crude, which we rely on imports for.
After everything that happened since 2020 and beyond, gas prices are a mundane issue. It’s unreal there are still people who still take elections seriously.
Elections just determine what stocks to hold for that term....aside from the good old military industry standards naturally.

I totally agree. For the not having kids, you see that in birth rates...a lot of people are choosing not to have kids.

I have no argument to refute that except to say "compromises"
