DP for the B58. Dragy came in as well to get a baseline before installing the DP
0-60 in stock Supra stock tires with 39psi in tires. Not too bad. I only did 2 runs. Too much traffic and risk. Tire temp was 76 degrees and it’s around 75 degrees outside at the time
This the 1/4 mile time. It spun a little off the line so I lift a little before getting back in it. I can’t figure out how to use launch control without it smoking the tires.
Baseline completed before I install the DP. I think if lowered tire pressure and got a better launch can easily get into the 11s stock. @FrankReynoldsCPA
Saturday project. I had a rattle in my center screen area, instead of leaving it at the dealer for 2 weeks and them not fixing it, I disassembled the console and removed the screen and fixed it myself. 4 pieces of felt, no more rattle.
All done:
The biggest issue was disconnecting the wiring plugs, each of them connects and disconnects in a unique way. One for the panel behind the control pad for the dynamic and hazard flashers etc, one on each side of the base of the console trim for the ambient lighting that runs up the edge, and two behind the screen.
Pretty easy to disassemble, this video showed me how. I also disassembled the console in my LS460s to repair rattles, big difference is screws, No screws in how the interior of the LS is assembled, all clips that just pull apart. The Mercedes had 8 screws to remove that panel and then the actual screen is nestled into that trim like its a cradle and is attached with 4 screws. Did not need to remove the screen from the cradle. The screws make the console MUCH more solid feeling than the Lexus all clips approach.
Nice job, I also noticed how much more solid clips+screws are. Makes it a little harder to take apart but worth it, little noises like what you have been fixing recently are very annoying in nice cars since everything else is so quiet it's all you hear lol!
The screws are so worth it. The clips also get weak over time and lets everything move around.
Yeah I like to drive around with the audio off and just enjoy the quiet sometimes. The console is really solid now.
They do indeed, I had to replace like 12 of them in the LS460 when I first got it and added felt tape to all the interface areas as well to stop that annoying plastic noise if you put a knee into the console hard. Sill didn't stop it shifting around though as it's not screwed down....
When I buy a new car I usually take the seats etc out to clean it and as part of that I make sure everything is tight etc. Makes a big difference on some cars but what I find interesting is the paint marks they make during assembly showing that the screws have not shifted but aren't as tight as spec says they should be. It's not in all cases but when I have had some "loose" and set them a bit higher it's interesting to see how it firms things up.
It also convinced me that even though given cars share a chassis the higher trim versions for whatever reason are put together better. Oftentimes I find less things loose at equivalent miles/age, sometimes stuff like my W12 has a bunch of extra factory felt tape or adhesives vs the V8 version of a same year car.
Oh I hated that creaking console noise on the LS460s. I loaded them up with felt and all kind of stuff and never could get rid of it completely.
You need to literally COVER all the inside areas in it lol! Issue is the thing will still shift around so you can't really lay a knee into it and make eye contact....
