It surprises me that the LS had clips and not screws. I just took my GS dash apart to add CarPlay and there were a few clips, but mostly screws.
GROM VLINE? Upgraded the infotainment system in my IS350, except let my mechanic do it. It was my primary at the time, and didn't want to tear apart everything and get stuck having a car with a torn out middle console and screen

At least the console is all clips. I also removed the big woof strip across the dash to replace the burned out ambient light strip and it also was just clips.
Your GS is a generation newer, the LS dated back to 2007. But I've seen videos of the LS500 and its the same way. Was your console trim etc screwed down or were the radio components and all screwed in? LS had the components screwed in too, but not the trim. All the trim on the S Class is screwed in.
I don’t know if anyone remembers but back in the early 2010s there was a trend among YouTubers showing how easy it was to pull apart Toyota interiors (usually a 6th gen Camry) by hand.
Also the tone of the videos was quite inflammatory and juvenile.

It was a mix. The trim around the start switch was clipped in, but the bezel around the navigation display was screwed in.

Yessir. It was a bit of a pain to install but well worth it.
Not sure about that on the Mercedes, I have never done it, There are two cabin filters. The LS460s though have a nice door in the glove box you access with clips.
