Why would this be? Wouldn't it apply the same algorithm across the entire platform? If not, wouldn't it defeat the purpose? If they release a new model for "Cybercab", using this train of thought, that would have to start basically from scratch to "learn"..?? I don't know why there would be any differences across the platform assuming that the HW is the same in the comparison group.
Dimensions of each vehicle is different, cameras are not in the same place. Same basic software architecture is used of course.
So far the latest FSD has been pretty flawless. It even pulled behind the last car making a left turn where the lane was backed up, something it didn't do before. Call me impressed 👍Using Mad Max mode, it does seem slightly more aggressive, but can't really tell how much more over Hurry Mode
I was using FSD the other day and a cop had a car pulled over on the right shoulder. I was in the right lane and FSD moved my car to the left lane and back over to the right lane after we passed the stopped cars. Pretty impressive.
It still gets confused a little bit though. At one light by my house there is a weird two lane straight away that after you cross the intersection there is a small shift. My car was in the left lane and didn’t realize the little shift and ended up in the right lane after the intersection.
Lastly, I think I just like driving my car. I’ve used FSD a lot lately and it just doesn’t drive like I drive and it drives me crazy because I am a control freak. If I just want to camp in the right lane and chill it’s great but even in the more aggressive modes it does some annoying things.
What I've noticed is in Mad Max mode on a regular road it can be a bit aggressive and will unnecessarily change lanes to get around slower cars, even if a left or right turn is coming up. Then it has to make it's way back to the proper lane it should have just stayed in. Also it does seem to hesitate more changing lanes, even if it's clear to do so. I'll have to hit the accelerator to force it.
Tomorrow I'm going to take it out of Mad Max mode to see if it makes a difference
I’ve tried all of the modes and I think I like standard or hurry depending on the circumstances. If the road is somewhat empty I use MadMax but it will go 20mph over the speed limit sometimes so I have to shift to hurry mode if I don’t feel comfortable going that fast. I also noticed the same as you in traffic using MadMax.
Have you guys noticed it sitting under the set max speed? When I took my wife's 3 in for service a few weeks back, I was on an empty 65mph highway, set it for 75, and it liked to sit at 72-73 despite being in the middle lane with no one around. This was in Hurry mode.
I was talking to one of my agents yesterday, the one who got the new Model Y to replace his ES350. He was telling me about how incredible he found FSD, he was driving in a zone with a flagman, where construction had one lane closed. When the flagman turned his sign around from Stop the Tesla recognized it and went. He also was turning left and a woman was walking a dog and it paused, she waved him ahead and the car went ahead. Pretty amazing...

That must be an improvement from v13. That was one of the situations where I had to take over. The same goes for emergency vehicles. I'm happy to see reports of that being fixed now, too.

Well it seems to be adapting, it made the "corrections" I did yesterday, I still had it in Mad Max mode. It still does hesitate though when changing lanes in Mad Max mode, not sure why

FSD does not adapt assuming the same version. If you see "improvements" that is down to the fuzzy emergent behaviour of AI not because the onboard software learned from experience.

the name of the mode might be a hint as to why it does things like that.

your 3 has hw3 i believe. on hw4 v14.x you can't set max speed any longer (pros/cons but doesn't bother me).

I still haven't tried v14, but should be soon.
just curious, why haven't you upgraded?
about fsd, as you can see i use it most of the time!
for me it's not about not liking driving as it is curiosity to see how the car handles things. but yesterday with a boring 80mi. highway jaunt, it sure was nice letting it do it's thing both ways while i listened to podcasts. it was also great it doing the driving in stop and go holiday/snowbird traffic from the town i was in to the turnpike.
is it perfect? no... with 14.2.1 i've seen a new weirdness happen a few times where it will want to turn onto a side street near the destination that's NOT on the indicated nav route (and in a couple of cases a dead end). i have to disengage, go past, then re-engage. guessing it might think there's traffic nearer to destination it's trying to avoid, but that hasn't been the case as these are on quiet roads.
