Tesla Full Self Driving Thread
FSD is now about solving the more more and more obscure edge cases, foundationally FSD is solved. It wasn't long ago this would cause FSD to do something stupid now it handles it just like you would.
Yep. If there are no spaces there are no spaces, so FSD is doing exactly what a human would have to do - which is the entire point.
Ironically, he had meant to say the car pulled off some really intelligent moves, rather than leaving the reader to think he had misspelled "inelegant" per his reply on his thread.

Bit - have you tried A.S.S. yet? I never use FSD but I actually used A.S.S the other day. I had my son and his friend with me and when we came out from lunch it was absolutely pouring rain. I used it to come pick us up and my son's friend was in disbelief the whole time. Pretty cool to see someone's reaction to it that doesn't know it can do that. And actually very impressive for it to do that given how hard it was raining.
i have not! generally i want to get my 'steps' in and typically park far away from places. if it looks like rain and being from britain i'll have a compact umbrella with me.
but i'll give it a try at some point i'm sure.
i think you asked about whether air vents in my Y can blow directly on one's face and the answer is yes, i tried it.

so i tried my fsd (13) today and it failed in a couple of circumstances.
i wanted to see if i enabled it when sitting in the garage to see what it would do. my 3 car parking situation is kind of tight and the tesla is on the right side next to that wall. i enabled fsd to a destination and it began slowly backing out. but as it backed through the door it began to turn so the back of the car began going to the right, which would take it off my driveway concrete onto the grass. at some point it realized that and just stopped and beeped, basically saying it couldn’t continue. so i straightened it up, put it more in the middle of the garage (as there wasn’t a car in the middle) and gave it another go. it backed out of the garage fine, but instead of doing a turn to go down the driveway forward, it began to back down the entire driveway (some 400 feet). besides chuckling, i let it do it and watched a bit nervously. the gate opened and it backed out and started the trip just fine.
next minor thing… off a highway i’d taken a turn into a place for an errand and as i was heading back to the highway i enabled fsd. however, the turn is a bit unique because it has to do a u-turn off the highway about 100yds after turning onto the highway. the car just didn’t do it and was going to go straight past the u-turn, so i took over to do it. i’m guessing it would have driven up the road to the next u-turn then turned around.
when i intervened the car prompts to leave an audio comment about what i felt it didn’t do right, which i did. my voice + presumably fsd data and maybe camera data, goes to tesla for review!
these are pretty interesting edge cases. we’ll see if fsd 14 when i get it does better.
but the other full trips i’ve done with fsd were simply amazing.

not fsd specifically, but i tried *** (lol, “actually smart summon”) today in a couple of different parking lots. it’s a bit slow, but worked great!
some ux learning challenges, you have to hold the button on the phone app the entire time it’s driving to you, but it’s not that bad.
what was really weird was summoning the car when it was completely out of sight, but i could see its camera views on my phone. eventually i could see the car without using the phone which was wild.
