Tesla Full Self Driving Thread
unfortunately, this (14.2) not so impressive and resulted in hitting a curb (wasn’t me). unless, who knows, maybe the driver grabbed the wheel and caused it.

That it unfortunate. It wasn’t 14.x, but the way that a recent but prior version of FSD expertly handled consecutive roundabouts in our downtown area was one of the things that really made me see how impressive FSD could be.
i now have enough fsd miles experience (in 2 months of having the Y, from 13.7.? i think to 14.1.4 and now 14.2) to know how it does and i have seen a couple of ‘bad’ decisions but nothing serious.
14.2 it didn’t like some fog the other night (hesitation).
14.1.4 it didn’t like an emergency vehicle (that was stopped) behind me, that my car thought it had to pull over for.
14.1.4 would hesitate, usually at intersections, hitting brake (regen) once or twice before deciding what do to. 14.2 seems smoother.
14.2 right lane ending (with merge marking on road) on 2 lanes in my direction (going to 1)… i was in left lane and my car was about to stop to let someone come up the merge lane around me, which didn’t feel safe to anyone involved, so i took over.
13.? it would drive all the way to my garage and attempt to park in it, but failed.
14.1.4 it would open my gate and drive all the way to my garage and stop outside it.
14.2 it opens the gate but parks outside
i think this can be overcome by specifying what to do at trip and and it should remember that thereafter.
prior to 14.2 it would take the wrong last mile to my house (back entrance to my community), so i would disengage on getting close to main entrance and drive in then re-engage for it to finish. 14.2 it does the right thing now, yay,

Also it is about time autopilot and AEB start working on same version as FSD, because it is frankly embarrassing how behind they are.
Right now maybe 50% of their userbase can even get 14.2 FSD, rest is left on some dead version that will murder you.

I am now currently on FSD v14.2, I enabled it for a 50 mile trip to Tracy, CA where one of my wife's relatives hosted Thanksgiving dinner. Amazing 👍. Even my skeptical brother in law visiting from SoCal was impressed, although he believes FSD is one of those technologies that is designed to take away our autonomy and is the first step in removing ownership from common people. In other words, he's a Toyota owner

Explains why they didn't test Rivian or any other system besides Tesla, they simply activate.
