General EV Conversation

A Phev in my estimation is like a bicycle with training wheels. The tiny electric motor and batteries launch the car (keeping it from falling), and eventually the motor takes over when the battery is depleted. The training wheels eventually "come off" when the owner transitions to a full Bev. That may or may never happen.
Having driven both, a BEV is the way better driving experience. Just my opinion, and my experience

A lot to respond to. I drove my coworkers 2024 RAV4 Prime. Sorry, doesn't come close to either my Model Y or 3. Not even a little. I've also raced a few, both at a dig and rolling. Same in both cases. Must be that front wheel bias. Must be the extra weight of that small engine. Don't know what to say, remember C&D launches cars in perfect conditions on perfect roads. I'm about real world. 4.1 seconds on bad California roads. Every time.
You understand that you have to keep bringing up double and triple the price boosted M3's just to give me competition, right?
20" wheels make a huge difference. I have 19" on both cars. Also the newer Model Y is way more efficient. My Y takes two 10 mins super charging stops to SoCal vs my only one in the Model 3, which is more efficient.
Look, Im not against people driving Phevs, people like them and I respect that. BEVs are just better for me in my usage scenario

I don’t think I initiated M3 comp talks, only responded to it. There’s so many 4 banger builds out there cheaper to build than cost of an EV but that may be moving the goalpost one would say.
Yes my friend said looking back he sometimes wish he gotten the 19s but he opted for the 20s because he wasn’t a fan of the 19s. With you having 19s vs his 20s and essentially the same car, I literally bounce information from the two of you off each other as comparison and he said he can see how you can get the range you can but he can’t. And yes his Model 3 has better range than his Model Y on the same drive.
At the end of the day, you like what you like. If I were a California resident, I would be an advocate for EVs as well. Gas or electric, I just like cars in general, especially fast ones.
Doesn’t come close far as 0-60…slower by a second. I’ve never raced a model Y. Red light to red light vs a RAV4 prime, you win. I would like to see Model Y vs X5 50e.

For how I use my Prius, whipping around in town, an EV would make sense!!
My coworker who is a Porsche guy, he owns a Model 3 rwd, as well as a 2012 Prius. He's holding on to his Prius due to it's reliability and utility. Frankly, I would do the same, which is why I'm holding on to my Sienna
as for the bold, kind of a irrelevant here as there’s so much traffic

Was in WV over the weekend, stopped by the new Buc-ees in Mt Crawford on 81. They are putting in 20 Mercedes EV chargers. I stopped and totally naturally I was there for 25 minutes or so, used the bathroom, got some snacks and some brisket and ate the brisket before I left. Perfect EV charging stop, and its almost halfway, its 171 miles left to my destination and about 180 miles travelled. So, with that there I would say I'm pretty comfortable getting an EV and driving it on that trip.
only a matter of time before the charging availability and time and range issues are a thing of the past for MOST people and places.
the thing that amazes me, and the #1 question i get from people who obviously know nothing about EVs is "how long will the battery last?"
perhaps i should respond with "how often do you fill up with gas and how much do you spend?"

rather than answering a question with a question and making it difficult.
