Personally I just leave the cabin overheat protection at the default setting.

In the summer I couldn't be bothered with preconditioning the cabin as at most the car will be at 86 to 88 in the garage at it's hottest setting. Once I get in, open the windows and AC is on, within a min or two the car is at a comfortable temperature.

The winter is a different story - I always precondition the car and that too is mainly so that the battery is warm enough that I get full regen using the brakes as it feels weird when there's much less brake regen. Of course a warm steering wheel as opposed to a "frozen feeling" wheel is much better for my old and cold hands.

I can't even express my opinion without getting grief. And all from non Tesla owners. I personally don't care, but at a certain point, it does start to touch a nerve. Anyway, I hope we can all move on
To be fair, the ICE owners on this forum have to constantly hear about how their cars are obsolete and inferior to the only acceptable car brand, Tesla.

I edited out the part about you being sensitive. This whole thing is just ridiculous. I’m not lying about my cars staying a comfortable temp in my garage.

You’re trying to define what I was saying and you’re wrong. The garage never gets colder than the upper 60s in the winter and never gets hotter than the mid 80s in the summer. I said the most the car ever gets inside is in the 70s, meaning in the summer it doesn’t feel like warmer than that inside the cars. In the winter sure it gets down into the 60s inside. But even on the coldest day I don’t even need to wear a jacket inside the cars.

I even asked my wife, have you ever gotten into your car in the garage and felt like you wished you could have preheated or precooled it and she said no.

I feel this as well.

I think one of the challenges is that what rises to the level of “bothersome negative comments” here is very low. This is a great example. Me saying that my cars staying a comfortable temperature in my garage to where I don’t need preconditioning when they are parked there somehow turns into an “attack on Tesla” and EVs when it has nothing to do with them. If I had an EV (which I WILL have) I wouldn’t precondition it in my garage either, it’s not necessary.

To me EVs are great and compelling but it’s not ALL positives. There are some ways where they’re not ever going to be the same or as compelling as an ICE car, and lots of ways where they can do things no ICE car can do. So buyers will have to make a value judgement depending on what their wants and needs are when they do convert, and many buyers may not ever want to.

Here's an example of me being epically wrong, when I first saw the Model 3 especially the interior I thought it was a sick joke. I hated it. Why? Because my brain was wired to only accept convention, a car interior had to be a certain way with certain controls or it was no good. You'd think I would have learned my lesson in lieu of the original iPhone. I was completely wrong, Tesla has mastered the art of on screen controls the whole system is dead simple to use.

As for a mechanical shifter control on an EV it makes zero sense, you are taking physical movement and converting it to electronic signals anyway. The only reason to keep it is to appeal to tradition.

Code for you won't lol.
That's what I get for over sharing

In terms of the physical shifter, I don’t ageee that it’s any more redundant in an EV than in an ICE car. You still select forward, reverse, park and neutral. I prefer to do that with a physical control. Having to do that on a screen IMO is not intuitive.

I found this kinda interesting. I've never really paid attention to the fact that my windshield wipers don't activate on my MYP when going through a car wash. I checked after getting out of the wash and my wipers were in fact still on "auto" mode (I wondered if they were off completely). I don't use 'car wash mode' and don't know if that actually deactivates the wipers.

I assume it's because the car uses 'vision' instead of rain sensing windshield, so it realizes where it is. Pretty smart.

I always put it in "carwash mode" just to be safe

Interesting.. I just looked it up (details below). Do you use the "Enable Free Roll"? Locking the charge port seems like a good idea to avoid any potential issues that could come from that opening. Car Wash Mode closes all windows, locks the charge port, and disables windshield wipers, Sentry Mode, walk-away door locking, and parking sensor chimes. To enable, touch Controls > Service > Car Wash Mode. Your vehicle must be stationary and not actively charging.

If using an automatic car wash, Enable Free Roll keeps your vehicle in Neutral and activates free roll for the duration of the wash, while preventing Model 3 from applying the Parking brake if you leave the driver's seat. To enable, press on the brake pedal and touch Enable Free Roll; or shift into Neutral.

Car Wash Mode disables if the vehicle's speed exceeds 9 mph (15 km/h) or by touching Exit on the touchscreen.

The carwash I take it to doesn't have conveyor belts, the washing mechanism moved so I don't need to enable free roll

saw the bZ4x in the wild today. Rare to see in Toronto as the vehicle is only sold in Quebec and BC. $15,500 discount on the car.

I think it looks much better in real life among the other cars. The build quality seems petty good. The car was from Quebec.
