I'm dubious. For one, if the vehicle was water tight it would also be air tight, which means if you sat in it long enough without the air circulation system active you would in fact die. It would also float like a boat.
He also doesn't seem to be the average traveler. I travel a lot to SoCal, and all the gas stations along the way have giant convenience stores with fast food restaurants in the stores full of people. People who stop for gas spend at least 20 minutes browsing the store, (longer if they are with their families) going to bathroom, eating and stretching their legs. It takes between 10 to 20 minutes to charge, so I end up spending as much time stopping as someone fueling at one of the gas stations
Everything, imo, is overpriced in convenient stores so I try to avoid going inside all together although Bucees selection is not bad at all. They have a pretty big selection.

This is true. Whenever I see an open spot close to the front I turn into Dale Earnhardt trying to get to it. If not you have to park far away in the parking lot out by the chargers or forced to park at a pump which I rather not do especially if I’m not pumping gas.

yeah, using an old prius to tow a 5000lb trailer with a race car thousands of miles with no bathroom breaks. i keed, i keed!

come on, stop repeating that same untrue statement over and over. 27% of NEW cars on the road might be ev's, but probably less than 5% of cars in california are ev's.

You know exactly what I meant, how many times have I used NEW in multiple other posts? All you had to do was correct the sentence instead of accusing me of lying

Using the bathroom and stretching your legs is free, last time I remember. I don't buy anything in the stores either, maybe occasionally I'll grab a 5 hour energy

I’ve never stopped just to stretch my legs. I can do that while driving I don’t drink energy drinks. A good night sleep is the best “energy drink” for me.
Seriously we take 5hr+ trips with zero stops. We pack snacks and drinks but again no one slurps their drink the entire drive. Family is mostly asleep the drive. The last thing everyone does before leaving the house is use the restroom. Drain that bladder!!
Most people don’t have any interest in driving 5 hours without stopping at all though. I don’t. When I was younger I could and would do that but now I stop 2-3 times to use the bathroom and grab a drink or a snack etc.

I do!!🙋♂️
pack a snack and drink from home. Sometimes we will pack a small cooler.
If GPS says it’s a 5hr drive before I set off, I’m trying to get there in less than 5hrs, not over 5hrs
Edit: I made a little over 6hr (6hr 30min to be exact) trip last night. During that time I ate a salad from Wendy’s, some French fries, handful of almonds, consumed 40oz of water, and about 4-5 sticks of gum. I used the restroom after I reached my destination.

Someone interviewed the owner. It floated about 100-150 ft away from where it was originally parked. I doubt it was submerged to the roof, but double seals on all doors and the ability to ford 3 feet of water certainly helps.
Owner shared some pics on reddit as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/comments/1ftadke/new_color_options_for_hurricane_helene_survivors/

You have a Superman bladder my friend 🤣 40 oz in 6 hours is at least two bathroom stops for this old man
I still am miffed by this but I made it all the way to Rochester from Knoxville without having to pee once. 11 hours, must have been a record for my life. Sorry TMI.

No mud anywhere in the door jambs even before the door seals? I'm not buying that car was submerged and floating. I would believe that it would start and drive, but not that there would be no water in the interior. Floated 100 yards with no body damage? Also that would be exceedingly unlikely.

Wrong post you are quoting, unless you are saying bladders don't float
Notwithstanding the impressive levels of cast-iron bladder-oriented fortitude some here are blessed with, the bigger issue and IMO by far the main reason why reasonably frequent stops are an extremely good idea is driver inattention and fatigue. There’s absolutely no way anyone can stay at the top of their game after hours and hours of the kind of freeway driving where the scenery never changes and where the road is so long and straight you can see into next week. Taking a quick break to mentally reset and reboot isn’t just good for you and your passengers, it’s good for those around you. Distracted inattentive driving is dangerous, and the longer the drive the bigger the risk. No one is immune from this, and that first indication that you weren’t paying attention may also be your last.
