Seriously I deliberately never drive the new version of a car I have unless I am in the market lol
I drive cars all the time I have no intention to buy. It's my love of cars and curiosity why I do it. Next car I plan to test drive will probably be a Plaid

Oh I do too, but specifically not the new version of a car I have. I never drove a W223 for instance until it was time to really consider one.

I wanted to experience the updates for myself, and since it literally takes almost no effort to test drive a Tesla, their showroom is only 10 minutes from my office, I took the opportunity. I never buy a car on impulse, the exception over my adult life was the Polestar, but it was a lease so I give myself a pass on that one 😁.
It's just something I love to do. Now that I drove it, it's out of my blood. I may "want" to replace my current Y with a new one, but it's not something I'll be doing unless God forbid my current one gets totaled in accident
My point is if I never drive it, I won’t be comparing what I have to it. I’m always thinking about what’s next etc that’s just how I am but it keeps me happy with what I have.
I had to take my car in to the service center today for a repair and I checked out the new Model Y. It’s a really nice car and the interior seemed much nicer than the prior model. The interior materials were nice and the seats were comfortable. I didn’t love the implementation of the new ambient lighting but that’s a personal preference.
What amazed me is how certain things in this car are much better than my brand new Plaid which cost twice as much. First I liked that the door panel had an area covered with alcantara vs the fabric covered portion on my car. Second was the fact that the rear seats to fold down were powered vs my car’s manual seats and lastly the sliding console doors were smooth to open and close vs my car where it is a little rough to open and close. This was present in my old car, my new car and any Model S refresh that I have been in. Amazing they couldn’t make it like that in the Model S.
Oh almost forgot, the buttons to open the door on the inside and the turn signal buttons feel so much better than my car.
Ugh I hate even mentioning it but my car only has 1,000 miles on it and my wife went to park the car (mind you she never did this in the old Plaid after three years) but didn't realize there was a parking block in front of her because there was a big concrete wall she was making sure she didn't hit and the front went over top of it. The wouldn't be a big deal because I have a clear bra that covers the underside of the front bumper which would take care of the scrapes but on the left side there was rebar sticking up and it sliced through the clear bra underneath the bumper and paint and then punctured/ripped a hole in the plastic undertray. I was able to super glue the sliced part of the bumper back together but I want to get the undertray replaced becuase it mangled it a bit.
Of course with my Tesla service center luck and the fact that I can never talk to anyone becuase of the stupid app, I explained what part I wanted replaced and they thought it was a different part based on my description which I have no idea how they didn't know what I was talking about. Even in the app I questioned whether it was the right part since it was only going to cost me $90 to replace and install and they said it was right.
I wasted two hours out of my day yesterday only to hear they thought it was a different part and they don't have the part I actually need. Of course the part I need is not $90 installed, its $400 installed. So now I have to go back next week again and waste more time sitting at the service center for hours.
