Nothing too exciting here, just pulled my intake and installed/ wired in the 1200cc injectors. Tuning day scheduled for Feb15. Exchanged my fuel for new, battery charged up, looked everything over. Should be ready to go!

Well dyno day was a fail. Unfortunately things that were out of my hands didn't work out. But they will be corrected asap and I'll be back on the dyno soon. I like to do all my work by myself, but when I trust others to make something for me I always end up disappointed. My problems are possibly in the transmission I ordered from the Jeff guy everyone used to talk about at Powerdynamix. The ECU isn't liking whatever is going on in there and won't shift right. And I also found out the P&P Boomslang harness never came pinned for VVT. It wasn't pinned for a boost controller either. I already pinned it for that, but will have to pin it for the VVT to function. There cars rely on it for any low end torque. The other thing my tuner suggested I change is my vacuum line mess for a real vacuum manifold for better response, so I'll do that. I will also be moving my ehx cam gear 2 degrees negative with my adjustable cam gear as his experience has the best results with that. My thoughts on the trans issue may be the torque converter. I have to make sure the sensors are working, but I'm thinking it doesn't like the 3200 stall and is tripping out over it. It's an error in the VSS circuit. Whatever it is is causing a "limiting effect" as he explained it and the engine won't go past 4000rpm on a pedal mash. Only evidence as an issue is the VSS circuit.

Damn bro, I was wondering when a update was coming. Get with Jeff today if you can and explain what's happening. He'll be glad to know what's going on with his transmission and get you up and going should that be the failure. Did anything come about from your concern with the 285 pump?

I've always had a very hard time getting in contact with him. Tried twice yesterday and left a message. The tuner actually said there is more than enough pump for what I'm going for. He actually only expects to be seeing 60% DC from the injectors. But I think he might be mistaken. No power runs were done. I did tons of research and they should be around 80% DC. I don't know what he knows and I'm no expert, but will see when the time comes. The more pump concern is when you go e85 from what he was saying. Anyways, I don't think he expects the car to make over 600whp. Not sure why. I think I will need more pump than he thinks and the injectors will see 80-90% DC to reach my power goals. The engine should hold upwards of 20psi boost just fine. I think he'll be surprised at what it can do. I mean, as close as I can guestimate, it was making somewhere around 450whp when it blew and that was on 7-8psi. I better make more than 600 after fully forging and upgrading the hell out of everything lol. Anyways, I'm going to work out these few things and try to get back to the dyno asap.

Finally had my first day to mess with the car since trying to have it tuned. Wasting no time I am trying to get everything on point. Still no word from Jeff yet. The trans thing is going to be the biggest factor for me. But I can at least start knocking out the little things. I ordered a vacuum manifold and some hoses to run all my vacuum devices properly. Not knowing how long the car will be down this time I decided to pour some Stabil fuel treatment in the tank to keep the fuel good. I pinned/wired for vvt on the infinity ecu and into the factory computer wire as instructed. I also retarded my exh. cam by 1 degree as the tuner suggested. (He suggested two degrees, but that would require redoing timing entirely.) My BC adjustable cam gear allows 1 full degree advance or retard, so I went 1 degree. Should help, better than nothing.

I am considering purchasing the PHR fuel pump hanger and doing a dual pump setup now that I have the time. It's sooo expensive, but it's been a big worry all this time and may be something that holds me up next time I go in for tuning. I can't keep playing this back and fourth to the tuner game. It's time to get things done right for sure. Heck I'm even considering a CD009 swap if this damn auto trans wont stop acting up. But I'm going to give Jeff some time and a few more calls. I want to make the auto work and will try whatever I have to before giving up hope.

Things weren't as crazy as I thought and the car is ready to go again. Since there won't be a lot of down time I wont be messing with the fuel system or making any real big changes. Just the few small things the tuner suggested. I installed the vacuum block to give each vacuum operated sensor/component a proper source and especially the MAP sensor it's own source to the manifold. At this point I'm just ready to get the car running right. I'll be happy if it makes 600whp even. So not worried about further upgrading the fuel system to support big power anymore (for now anyways).

I know once I get the tuning done I will be finding out other things that need upgraded after driving it. I already know I need to upgrade my tires and coilovers. I've been driving a silly little 97 200sx with coilovers and got use to that. The GS is on Tein street basis z coilovers and feels like it's rather boaty in comparison now that I've been able to drive it again. I'll need a set with dampening adjustment so It can feel like it's on rails like my 200sx. I don't even have to slow down for corners in the little Nissan, the GS feels scary lol.

I'm also going to be looking into better cooling system components before the heat of summer hits. The car needs a better radiator than my little 1" thick single core ebay cheapo and factory fans. Considering an oil cooler as well. I'll have to custom in my own coolant fed fluid cooler for the trans as the good radiators don't have an auto trans cooler integrated. All things I'll plan for at the same time as a lot of the same work is required to route and install.

Anyways, first thing's first. Going to get this thing back on the dyno!

Here’s how I plumbed the vacuum block:

I've bought parts from many places. But MAPerformance, THmotorsports, Drift Motion, Supra Store, and Serial nine are all good to check out.

Thanks that’s perfect I’m new to the car performance been diesel trucks for a long time just now playing with a car. And just one more question did you get your turbo kit direct from cxracing

Originally yes. I called to confirm all my details and ordered through them. However I have since upgraded all the major parts and am now basically using their turbo manifold, intercooler, and piping only. The manifold is of extreme quality and very heavy duty, but only comes in single scroll. So not wanting to purchase another manifold I'm stuck with a single scroll turbo though I'd like to run a twin scroll. If you have bigger plans for the car you might want to consider just ordering the hard parts because the kit is easily outgrown. Just some things to consider. But it is a pretty decent and complete kit and an affordable starter. You will still need a pump and injectors, and tuning equipment.

Aside from trying to get back in for tuning I went ahead and splurged on a few items for the car. I bought a still new in the box Cusco lower brace to help complete the normal chassis/suspension upgrades. And I located a nice set of OEM chrome door handles and the trunk garnish strip from some of the fancier Aristo's in Japan. These ones look pretty mint and seem kinda hard to come by so I couldn't pass them up. Shipping will take a while, but I'll be excited to see them on the car and post pics after install. I think they will look very sharp on my black exterior with the rims I have and the general theme of it. I also found a very nice condition replacement passengers front door interior panel. Mine had been peeled up in various places by a moron before me that tried to do work in the door and didn't know how to remove the panel. Always was an embarrassment if I had a passenger getting in and will finally be back to a clean straight interior, so looking forward to that.

I love your car! Its a very inspiring built. Seems like there are real cars out there, and there are show cars. Show cars are usually so over the top in every aspect that they might as well be a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Beautiful and exciting, but in no-way similar to my vehicle. Yet yours, and your desire to keep it an “underdog daily driver” is a real inspiration to me. I look forward to seeing it back on the road, and how the build progresses from here.
I would definitely recommend u look into a Snow Methanol Injection kit. It’s the most impressive power adder I have ever seen when paired to a boosted engine. It’ll allow u to safely turn the boost up as far as the car is capable. It’ll keep cylinder temps low, and allow you to set the timing as aggressive as possible. With methanol, you’ll never wish u had a bigger turbo. It'll also be easier on the engines internals when you are really pushing it hard. With methanol you’ll be done dealing with building power, and just working out how to get traction.
Keep the posts coming, good luck.

Thanks, I appreciate it! And Good advice on the methanol kit. I know they can make a big difference. I guess for simplicity and daily driving I didn't want to deal with things like adding octane booster, filling a nitrous bottle or methanol reservoir, or hunt down e85 fuel every time I gas up. I do want to see what power the car can make without the added help that may not always be there you know? But who knows what the future holds. Maybe after it's dialed in I'll be after more lol.

methanol is much easier than that, it’s essentially strong windshield washer fluid. U can pic it up in concentrated form and then mix it to your preference. It changes the way the air/fuel combusts, i am not very getting at explaining how it works, but I can tell u that it’s easy, and on a turbo with independent controller, it’s awesome. And u can use 85 oct and still get good performance, or race gas if u want maximum power, u just need to make the timing is correct. Just look into it, it’s not expensive either.
