I'm soo excited for this OVTune. Will you guys be doing software for the transmission as well or just the engine only? The transmission tuning can use some help as well. Upshifts are fine but downshifts can be harsh at times.

What will happen if you send it in for dealer service with the modified parts? Will that void the warranty?

They shouldn't void the warranty unless an aftermarket part is related to a mechanical issue. For example if there is a suspension issue and you are lowered most likely they will void that repair. I have done oil changes myself but i just wanted to have a dealer service for the carfax/ history report.

Sorry to hear.
I hope the Supra lives up to the hype. I am a fan of BMW’s but I know they are not known for reliability as Toyota/Lexus. I am sure Toyota knows what they’re doing. I do wonder if Japanese performance brands like HKS & Greddy would start making parts for this BMW motor. .

That would be a backdoor way of getting HKS and other japanese tuners to tune BMWs. lol.

but really... JB4 and call it a day? lol.

i wouldn't worry too much about the newest iteration of BMW I6s. BMW's bread and butter. they've been refining that engine for a while now. and you can bet since it's in every car, that's where a lot of money went.

The BMW V8s are the ones you want to stay away from.

I hope we can use something other than JB4. In the grand scheme of things that system is very limited. I’d hope something like BM3 would work for full flash functionality.

I mean seriously who would run a Super VAFC on a Honda when you can run a Hondata K-flash?

I agree! I haven't heard any bad reviews on the B58 motor. HKS and others will have to start manufacturing parts with torx bolts lol.

The BMW JB4 system is a whole different animal. They use them to tune big turbo set-ups.

Getting back on 200t topic-
Last Tokyo auto salon they announced the TRD TG20 (8AR-FTS). It has been almost a year now so it makes me wonder if they scrapped that project.

There is only so much a piggyback system can do. Sure you can “tune” a larger turbo with one I’ve seen larger turbos on EVO’s tunes with a SAFC but why?

Almost all the records on BMW’s are held with BM3.

I would not hold out much hope on the TG20 that had spec racer all over it.

I agree.
Still got faith in the 8AR since they used a modified version for the 24hr Nurburgring race, but like you said the TG20 could be specifically for their touring car competition.

Many don't want to modify their BMW DME (software) so instead use piggy backs. BMW is strict about this and scans cars and flags them.

I would do the JB4.

In its stock form, the BMW turbo 6s are already terrifying. So you don't need much to bump it up for added fun.
