we have made good progress on our tune update already. We are fine tuning the transmission.
I'll probably be the first to say the stock turbo is just too small if you guys want real, real power.

So we've already got a Cast piece being made to flange the stock one to T25, for our bigger turbo

With no throttle limits we are seeing 10-11psi 1rst and 2nd gear, peak 15-16psi 3rd gear, and 17-18psi higher gears.(mid range, it will not hold to rev limit)

The stock turbo cannot sustain 20+psi through mid range with no throttle limitation. It's simply too small. I have one here I have taken apart it's *barely* larger than the stock turbo on a 3.5L Ecoboost, which uses 2 turbos.

So anyways we will have a tune + bolt on replacement bigger turbo setup.
Our goal is 400whp with a EFR 6758.

Any chance this tune and turbo development would carry over to the NX200t? I was in talks with your counterparts here in the Philippines, who mostly tune Mazdas, but ultimately went with TTi's tune due to a lack of clear progress at that time. Some things I hope to see for the NX, should you push through:

1. Disabled auto-upshift on M mode while TCS is off (different transmission though)
2. Increased responsiveness on low-mid range BUT with adequate safety nets to avoid heavy engine load parameters that turbo motors seem to hate
3. Possibiity of custom mapping for aftermarket downpipe that routes to stock exhaust

I believe the above, if not already applied, would be desired by IS200t owners interested in tuning as well. Thanks in advance.

Our tune will definitely work on the NX200T, however the bolt-on turbo may not, as the downpipe is different

No trust me you are not the first to say the stock turbo is too small. Not only is the compressor side anemic the turbine side is restrictive to say the least. Toyota made what should be a responsive/punchy turbo then programmed in lag. Still don’t understand this decision.

With the new bolton turbo, Do you guys foresee needing additional upgrades such as intercooler, fuel pump etc to get to the 400whp mark?

Wonder if it’ll be going into the next MR2 maybe a few years after the Supra. 2800lbs of pure fury. Strange it’s taking so long but this information definitely puts our engine into perspective

I'd rather they put the 8AR in a Corolla. The "new" hatch is a great chassis (it is the old CT200h platform) and with the Focus RS/ST, EVO an Mazdaspeeds no longer being sold in the states (only turbo hot hatch is the CTR and that is way over priced) its a good segment to step into.

I just hope Toyota/Lexus decides to use a Toyota/Lexus engine instead of a BMW engine like the Supra.
I'm not sure what to think if we see a MR2 or a new Celica powered by a BMW engine.
It has been a interesting trend beginning with the FRS/BRZ using a Subaru motor (FA20).

It would be a nice fit in the Corolla only if it was as exclusive as the CTR. I would imagine it would just have a swapped fed NX Powertrain with some revisments. A possible Manuel would be really cool! Maybe loaded up for around 32k to beat out the CTR

I was looking at some pictures from Japan based performance shops and I haven’t seen any highly modified 8AR’s. I did come across this 2018 Toyota Crown with Cusco strut bars and looks like they are just running a TOMs powerbox.

Update TTI Stage 2+ with modified boost controller,
so far so good im seeing 22psi before intercooler and 19-20 psi after intercooler with 11.5-11.9 AFR.
boost peak around 3500 rpm(19-20 psi) and drop to 17-18 psi from 4200 rpm to redline...
i will dyno the car soon busy at the moment....
