Default first ls and these are my issues

Ok 1992 ls400 189k. the car runs great! Im totally satisfied! But the things that confuses me is the overdrive....
. when its off I pics up perfect from take off! Engage it revs drop a good 1-2k rpm and seem trans seemms to tighten upand strugles to push out power but still moves. Turn it off rpms shoot back up and gives me power back!

The ect botton doesnt do a thing. Norm or not I get on response.

Security.... changed my batt in the key nothing... flick the dash switch back and forth nada!
And the trac off stays lit.....
No cel light

I know some ppl have came across these problems at one point or another. .. any directions I should Be lookin in? Im a diy type of man! Thanx

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Depending how tired the engine may be, OD may be lugging it. OD is better at RPM's of 1.7K+.
ECT will only change shift points under modest-full acceleration.

You'll have to describe the security problem in more detail.

overdrive off means the transmission will not engage 4th gear, or overdrive. it is normally on when you initially start the motor. are all these things happening when it's on or off? sounds like you may be a bad TCM or possible leaking capacitors inside the TCM, ECU, or both.

ECT on just changes the shift points by holding the gears a bit longer. most can't tell the difference with it off or on.

when I had these kind of issues, it turned out to be bad ECU capacitors

PS - now that my ECU caps are fixed, the ECT power button makes a big difference!

I smell something here. The ect is nothing more than a higher up shift at part throttle.

exactly. - when you shift more in the sweet spot of the powerband of the car, you get more power, more torque, but at the expense of fuel mileage! (that is, when the system is working correctly, which it does not when your ECU caps are hosed!)

Ok the security I forgot this part. If I lock the car itll randomly go off until I put the key in the door. I have to leave one unlock or the alarm will drain the car battery. The remote entry doesnt work at all. I replaced the battery turned it on on the dash and still doesn't respond is there a way to connect the key again?

You probably need another anti theft ecu for the first part. Second the key has a transmitter that may be bad. To fix either get two new keys and new receiver chip for car unit. Or just buy a after market keyless and have it integrate in to factory. Be cheaper than oem replacement.
