ect pwr will shift later in the rpm range and give a harsher shift. it stands for extra power. norm means normal..

it sounds more technical in the manual . that was a real simple explanation.

Thanks. The other thing I notice too is the "overdrive off" light on the dash will flash on and off. Once I hit the switch the light stays on.

please search, this has been asked like 2-3 times in the last month or two.

ECT changes the shift pattern and the throttle response.

Its a 92 ls400 with 140k ...drove it for the first time today in about 2"-4" of snow took me forever to get home from work. But I noticed if the overdrive is on sometimes the light will flash untill I turn it off.

Check for tdc's. Could be a clutch speed sensor starting to go.

Agree, not to mention there is an owners manual.

Plus he made another thread about how awesome his car his and how he got it for a "steal." Ever notice those are the same posters who come here and ask about the problems their cars are having?

Escpecially the ones who get their cars for $500, then wonder why they start falling apart!

The car it's fallin apart, it just didnt come with an owners manual. That why this forum was created right...to ask questions of those who know. I still think the car was a steal.

I don't think I've even switched mine on since I've had it. If it needs to go, just mash it...the TPS is programmed to shift at a higher RPM range. Just watch the gas gauge plummet too.

I think many of the basics are posted somewhere on the net. That auction site owners manuals come up regularly and the first gens may be pretty reasonable now. $15-$20 with the vinyl case.
