It would be interesting to know Lexus's cost of the ML system (understand it will never happen). I guess for most what matters is; can it be adjusted to my liking? Was also taken aback by the pricing of their stereo products (Crutchfield), after working a career in Aviation I'm not sure my ears would appreciate them.
I honestly wasn't impressed by the ML system in my LC. It really wasn't much better than the ML in my 2013 LS460..I was really expecting a more crisp sound and richer base, but it doesn't matter much because the engine sounds better than any music I would play anyway 😁
My wife first reaction on LC music player was “why it is so bad?” compare to her 2003 GS300 with nakamichi system.
i tried to make it better but still some music sounds ok some very flat. But when I cruse low speed top down enjoying good weather and my wife company everything becomes pretty much ok
I bet everything sounded good in that environment 😎. I had a 95 & 99 GS300, from what I remember the sound was really nice, but I must remember prior to my 95 GS, I was coming from a long history of Caddy's 😁

My thoughts exactly, I hardly have music on in the car
I have a MKV Supra that I modified the main speaker enclosure etc as per an excellent forum thread & it transformed the sound, easily superior to the LC

I do wish it had a better sound that matched the look and cost. Even my 2013 had soft closing doors which are missing on the LC. Actually, there are many features lacking on the LC, but I guess if it had everything it would be cost prohibitive for me and I would be dreaming of an LC instead of owning and driving one.

Soft close doors and power lift/close trunk are the two most glaring omissions to me on this 6 figure vehicle

I agree with you. I remember my niece's amazement when she saw me close my trunk. She said " wait, you mean you have to manually close the trunk on your $100k car" I played it off, but I must admit I was embarrassed. Even her 8 year old Rav4 has a power trunk. So needless to say, I don't open/close my trunk in public 😅
I blame it on the active spoiler lol. I think the motor in the active spoiler is what made the auto trunk not possible.
The most embarrassing thing is when you have to slam the trunk then try to take off but only get the ding that you haven’t fully close your trunk so you have to get out and slam it harder a second time. True story.

I understand the embarrassing moment. The things we accept so we can drive a work of art 😎

Shoot, forgot about the Trunk with the most recent Lexus Advisory Board survey. At the end of the survey they asked what you would request of Engineering to change on the LC.
Most of the survey questions were about how much interest you had in paying for additional things. Craziest was if I would pay additional for rear seat entertainment. While I know some here do put children in the backseat, it seems most kids nowadays utilize independent peripherals. Once long ago, we had a vehicle with a single screen DVD player roof mounted. Wasn't worth listening to the kids fight about what to watch. A remote sound-proof cabin separator (like Limo's), now that's something I would pay extra for (not for the LC, for the LC it would be nice to have the windscreen be motorized).
Agree, very lucky with my hearing also. Things are very different nowadays, I remember during Military firearm training exercises (including grenades) there were no discussions about hearing protection. Same thing early in Aviation, it was discussed but not enforced (like fall protection). But that was the same for most PPE items, it was more important to get the job done. With the LC, while I love driving with the top down I usually have the windows up because of noise, mostly from vehicles next to me. I also find the LC very quiet with the top up even at highway speeds, maybe the noise cancellation really does work.
Thanks for your service. Served 5 years in the Marines, myself. 1987-1992. I fully agree. We had ear protection, but it was up to the individual to put it to use. And there was no annual testing done, not my experience, anyway.

Semper Fi, Marines also 81-85. That's originally how I got down south; MCAS Beaufort that started a 40yr aviation career. No hearing tests until working in Commercial aviation.
Freeking hella receiver. No SX1980? 🤔

Thanks friend. SX-1080 I purchased in Okinawa, Japan when I was serving in the Marines. Bought in at the PX, (on base store), in 1988 for $600. Never been serviced and is in perfect mint condition, not a single mark on it anywhere. Works as perfect as it did when I purchased it. Incredible really... Have been offered as much as $8k for it but I'll NEVER sale. 😉 And yes, it still sounds beautifully warm, unlike any piece of modern gear.

Small word friend. MCAS New River, HMM365 Mag-29. Mad many trips to Beaufort, trained with a SAR unit out of there, before we would embark on MED floats. 👍
Same here, 1st hearing test was when I started working for the airlines. Also how I got to Atlanta...lol.
