This 100% worked for you? Do you have a final pic of the piece after you cut all of the plastic out?
I was doing it as we were posting this...lol. Here you go.
You can spend time trimming up all the little pieces, if you want, I didn't feel the need as there is no more rattling noise. One pic I have a light behind the cutout, obviously less obstruction with the plastic removed.
I'll say this...SOOOOO much cleaner sound without any rattle or distraction!
I realize now just how much "interference" I was getting, before this mod.

Thanks to this thread, my newly acquired 2021 LC500 no longer rattles! What an easy fix. I sharpened my metal shears, clipped al the connective plastic molding and gently pulled the glued grill from the foam. Took no more than 45 minutes total. And, wow, does this audio system sound great now. Side note: you can really tell a difference between Bluetooth connectivity and plugged in. Thanks to whomever thought of this great solution!

As a thought, before cutting up the grill (which is there to protect the speaker), has anyone tried applying some sound/vibration deadening like Kilmat or others on Amazon? That'd be my first choice - if it works.

I never even considered it...nothing has ever been nor ever will be in my backseat so speaker protection was not a thing for me.
Great alternative The500. I have used it on my Boat that we live on and it works well to deaden vibrations and rattles. There are many brands but all have the same purpose.
The piece you need to remove and the process to remove it is different. The plastic grating that people are cutting out is slightly different on the coupe and convertible also.
Not sure where the posts are but those of us in the beginning snipped off the entire hard plastic grill and the rattles are gone. Take grill off subwoofer....carefully cut all of the hard plastic off....put back on and now the subwoofer will only bump against the OEM fabric. No rattles now!
ah thx. it was 2 yrs ago i took off the cover on my coupe.
this was the pic i posted in post #336.
for anyone else, if you want to remove this, you can pull the seatbelts away up top a bit, sink your fingers in either side of the cover and pull it back and up and out.
