I posted this on the suspension of the SC section. Just wanted to see if any local guys can help me out with some insight.

Apex steel braided brake lines. Has anyone ever bought these brake lines from eBay? I bought them and went to install them, but the rear lines weren't fitting. The fronts fit perfect. I bought them for my exact car 93 SC300.

The rears aren't fitting into the male end of the hard line of the car. The hard line fitting has a solid tip before the threads start and that is too big. I contacted the seller and I'm waiting for a reply.

Also, I bought a set of LS400 front brakes as well. It came with new calipers that didn't have full hardware. It only had the pins and the clip that locks them together.

I bought a hardware kit from autozone and it came with the same exact parts as the rockauto. It says it's for both calipers. This is exactly what it came with.

Why would they sell a kit that's supposed to be for both calipers and only have one clip of each and only 4 brake pad clips but have both X brackets? Where does the smaller clip that is shaped like a V go?

I asked the guy about the four brake pad clips and he said to put 2 on each caliper. On opposite corners diagonal from each other. But from pics I've seen, they have 4 on each. I probably don't really need them because I've seen some calipers without any. I'm guessing it's the low brake pad warning clips. Or just to reduce noise.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance.

Default What is this thing? (1999 ES300)

Hi, I posted this question in a different forum with no luck. Hope I can get some help here .

I was perusing under my vehicle recently and came across a device that I had no idea what it was. After going through the FSM I found a few things that sort of look like it and I determined that it is a Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV). One of the few in the vehicle. It's not the EGR VSV or the EVAP VSV, or the ACIS VSV and I think it's not the Vapor Pressure VSV. I had to repair one of the tubes on it because it was torn.

This device is located under the front passenger side and it has three rubber tubes attached to it. One of which goes to the vacuum tank under the battery, another one goes to the air intake (just below where the MAF is) a third one is capped off. It is secured to the car with a screw and it also has a fourth tube (which is short) connected to what looks like a canister.

I want to ensure all the tubes are connected to where they are supposed to be.

I searched on the internet and found it to be a "Valve, duty vacuum switching". Don't know what it belongs to. The first image shows the device with a blue connector attached to it. It also shows the hoses attached to it. There is one hose attached to it that can not be seen in this picture but it is attached to a canister which is located right under the oil filter (see second image).

Please help.

Thanks.

On my pads I only had 1 clip on each pad... You have all the hardware, minus the pins which you may already have.

Yeah after reading the manual, I realize the little clips are just spacers for the pads so they don't shift. I installed one on each.

And I have the pins along with the larger clips that locks them. It's weird that it came with only one larger clip and it's for both calipers. And I still don't know what that smaller clip is for. I think it's for the rear calipers.

I just installed them with everything that I had and they work great and don't make noise or clunks.

Michelin PS 2 or for half the money Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110. I just got one for Ariel brother the other day..

Teelex runs them and his car is in the 7's , soon to be in the 1000's . No tire on the street will help anyone there, not with those numbers . Good luck Doug

My dash seems to be melting in the sun after i took it to a car wash. The car wash owner said he has always cleaned my dash with water.I always noticed that my dash would be a bit sticky after leaving it in the sun but not to the point were it melts. What advice can i get in order to fixed this problem.

Default i wonder if you would know

i recently did a head gasket swap but after reassembling i am getting compression but no ignition, i bought new spark plugs and wires, cleaned distributor cap, replaced igniter/ignition switch, and replaced all vacuum lines. i just did a d.i.y. code read and am getting codes 14, 7, and 8. WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY SC?! And most importantly how would I go about fixing it?

I know code 14 is IGF, IGF is used to tell the ECU that there is spark, and will remain adding fuel. If the ECU does not sense spark, the fuel will be cut.
