I
Finally sat in the new S580 today. No doubt it is very nice. BUT, I think the design of the screens is step back for MB. I think your S-class has a better dash design.
I agree, hopefully with the refresh they will make the dash more like the new E Class
also thought the giant curve on the window frame was a bit strange.
I love the HUD in my 540i, in fact I wouldn't mind if they added more stuff to it like a tach. I enjoy having the next nav step on there, as well as call and music information. This car is 2 years newer than my truck, but the truck is just a low trim XLT so it feels like I'm in a spaceship. 360 degree camera which is great, lock/unlock with my phone, lane-keep assist, massaging seats, keyless start/entry etc. It's all new to me and I'm really enjoying it. iDrive 6 functions very well.

Nice. That's a lot of good tech for 2017 I feel like! Glad you like your car.
I just can't stand the HUD, interesting how some like it. It is very unobtrusive to begin with (white lettering, you can adjust brightness) but it's always turned off. Does it have something to do with vision maybe? IDK. My vision was 20/20 the last time I had it checked but that was years ago. But I see perfectly.

What do you mean that “you can adjust brightness but it's always turned off”? My last car with HUD was a C6 Corvette. Color was amber and easy on the eyes. Took a little time to adjust looking at it vs looking the guages below in the dash.

I've always liked the HUD in our 5 Series too and use it a lot. Our X3 had the same one and HUD has become a must have in future cars. We recently got a '24 X3 and as you can imagine there are even more ways to configure it.

I mean that it's never turned on in the Yukon (if you leave it off it stays off when you restart), but if you do, you can adjust the brightness.

It's white lettering for me as well, unless I put it in sport mode or I exceed the speed limit, then the numbers turn red.
So while at Mercedes. They had a $300,000 G wagon. This is obviously off the website.
this is next level.
Spoiler
somehow, I have a feeling the Lincoln Blackwood wood bed is going to be brought up
I was at MB the other day and they had a G Wagen on the floor and the sticker on the windshield said $357,000. I was like man that’s a crazy markup. No, fhe markup was only $12k. The MSRP was $345,000.

We are definitely in the minority for not liking the HUD
