Why? I never use more than 8 cubic feet of luggage space. If I traveled with 4 people and stuff often it would be a different story, but I don't...if I travel in that car its just me, or me and my wife for a weekend getaway or something.
Right, but many other people travel in them and utilize all 4 seats. To be fair, if I saw the right picture, the trunk is cleverly packaged. However, still.... my SL has 8 cubic feet of trunk space....2 seat roadster. S-Class is a full size sedan.

However efficient the V8 may be, its not that efficient.
Fair enough, but I'd rather Mercedes just do what BMW is... hence how much you like the I7. Offer both, make them look the same. Drive a full EV S-Class, but there isn't one.

This one I'm gonna be stubborn on, not toward you. Curb weight is an enemy unless it's an EV, then it gets a pass. A 10,000 lb Hummer is the coolest thing since sliced bread, yet let's not make that Yukon too heavy. That stupid C63 weighs as much as a W140, and about 7 people have bought one. Speaking of W140, that car was slammed for its weight its whole run.
I think excess curb weight is bad in almost every situation, EVs included. I look forward to battery advances that allow all of these pigs to lose weight. They’ll all be better for it (and the environment, for that matter).
You have to go to a certain area, but regular is $2.62. Prices are down to acceptable levels, for regular at least. I filled the LX up for $50 bucks, that sure was nice. I gun it a lot more now lol. Premium is still pretty high, it cost $50 to fill up the SL but I don't think that's too bad either at all.

But your SL can't go 45 miles on all EV power and doesn't have the smoothness of the EV only drive. Tradeoffs. Thats why there are options, for me the S580e makes a ton of sense...I get the EV day to day like I want but don't have to worry about range. I just want what excites me too not just what makes sense. The I6 doesnt excite me, I'd rather have the V8 or the full EV I think. I have only driven the 580e once though, I will drive it more when decision time comes.

Oh I agree, remember too though that BMW also makes a 7 PHEV just like the S580e, they have I6, V8, I6 PHEV and full EV.

In every way but ride quality, which is predominantly what I care about. Driving both back to back, the S580e rides better than the S580, same as how my Pacifica Hybrid rides better than the ICE Pacifica. Is there a small handling penalty? I'm sure but that doesn't bother me.

That was 20c Tuesday, so tomorrow it will be $4.19 but its still a huge improvement.
That Sequoia was a good tow vehicle. Astonishing that Toyota went back to a solid axle. Do you tow with full time 4WD on?
Its very funny to me that they went backwards for function, I have no idea why they decided it was a good idea when the 2nd gen is the best 1/2 ton I've towed with to date. I've used all but the 2nd gen ram trucks for ram, the 6.2 GM trucks excepting the most recent, and the tundra. The 2nd gen Sequoia with air is the most insensitive to load/very comfortable to drive with more than enough power for full rated load at speed uphill.
I don't tow in any mode other than 2wd unless I need to move around on gravel or something. There is a lot of traction to get moving even when it's wet like today from the 7k+ behind me lol!
Mine is very low mile though so I don't know how they hold up at high miles personally, I'm not even at 70k yet.
I have a neighbor that has two sequoias, one ocer 350k miles and he just bought another with 215k miles. They are unbreakable.
yeah they do last. I am surprised at how comprehensive that vehicle is hydraulic adaptive variable suspension with air, selectable, two wheel or full-time four-wheel-drive, independent suspension in the back, big V8 engine, lots of room in the third row. The ultimate road trip vehicle with a full-time spare. I’m surprised they never made a Lexus aversion.
My Tundra, with a 38 gallon gas tank, is down to less than a quarter of a tank. Needing about 30 gallons at $4.69 a gallon will be expensive, but better than when it was $6 a gallon not long ago.

I was towing a 3,500 pound trailer with a 2022 Denali rental and it was all over the place on the highway. It was a big trailer (18x8.5) but it didn't inspire confidence at all.

What's the Denali platform built on, 1/2 or 3/4 ton?
I would be a little afraid to pull a trailer like that with a 1/2 ton truck.
3/4 ton and up, no problem.
It's not so much the weight for me but all the wind a trailer like that catches blowing me all over the road.
I've never towed with air suspension so don't know if I'd like that or not.
