One rainy afternoon heading south on 101 in southern Oregon I watched a 57 Chevy wagon pulling a trailer with a 57 Chevy Bel Air on it. It (they) at first started to wag each other left and right. Speed was around 50. I could see the wagon trying to slow down but its front end was barely touching the road. Then all of a sudden the front of the wagon lifted about three feet in the air as the trailer hitch dug into the pavement. After a few seconds it would slam back down. This happened six-seven times before the speed was reduced enough that all four wheels of the wagon were touching. He pulled over but it was obvious the tongue weight was too much. Suppose he continued on? Slower maybe? Was a helluva sight slowing all the traffic behind as we all watched the show.

I believe half ton. It was an empty trailer I had just bought. After towing it to the location, I needed to move it to the other side of the parking lot. I no longer had the rental and my cousin was confident we could move it with the beater car.....a toyota matrix. I told him I would not attempt it, especially since the trans is already on its way out lol.

Air takes all that "bounce" out of the experience, you never feel the tongue weight or trailer buck over things like rail road tracks and you also get to raise/lower the car onto the ball

So I got some actual MB Extended Warranty quotes and they are surprisingly not bad. To extend the coverage to 5 years 75,000 miles (so that would be 2 more years, essentially) is only $2,400. Thats likely the right coverage for me as I'm unlikely to keep the car beyond that. To go to 6 years or 100,000 miles is only $3,660. So the MB warranty is much cheaper than the third party warranty...

I'm at 44,500 miles so I have 5,500 miles to decide. I drive about 1,200-1300 miles a month, so I have until March/April before I have to make a decision

keep that pre-covid benz as long as you can! those warranty prices actually sound pretty good (especially considering the caliber of car in question), i'd sign right up for the E55 if i could lol

Yeah I was very surprised...thats cheaper than the Lexus Platinum Warranty for my LS460L...

I don't know enough about MB to know what type of issues you might be looking at from 50k-75k miles but $2,400 seems like a no brainer. I guess that tells me there isn't much MB is worried about...

That's a good price. Do you usually trade in your vehicles? I can see the 100k mile warranty increasing resale value private party if it's able to transfer to the new owner.

I agree, I would go for the 100k warranty. That realllllly isn't bad for an S-Class.

My main concern is air suspension and electronic issues.

And I'd assume either one of those issues on their own would more than pay for the $2,400 warranty. Just having one aspect of my LX570 hydraulic suspension replaced under Lexus warranty like 6 years ago was over $3k. I bet that would be $4k to $5k today based on rising prices of labor, parts, etc.

That's an insane deal IMO, you can't buy OE parts to fix anything serious for that cost.....if I were in your position I totally would buy it myself.

The price of a shock alone, no install and for one side only is over $2k so it's an insanely good deal!
