Perhaps so, but with all due respect, not everyone has as many $$$$$ to spend on a new vehicle that you do. One must look at the reality of their bank accounts....or whether they need to use that money for something else.

I mean yeah, that's always a reality but value doesn't mean cheap. I personally take it to mean I got a hell of a lot of whatever it is relative to what I paid, even if I paid a large amount. Originally Posted by mmarshall

Someone who would consider an X5 does have that money to spend. The point is they are two totally different vehicles that are geared towards different consumers so the value proposition for each is totally different.Originally Posted by mmarshall

Something is not automatically a better value just because its cheaper.

On the contrary cheap and low end items and products be that goods or services/programs are usually the WORST value. Originally Posted by SW17LS

People shop value and not price, Imo.
The reality is we all put value on different things and have varied amounts of money to spend.
But we want value! 😁
One person might put a high value on luxury and the next person might put a high value on reliability.
That will cost extra. Lol

That's often true, but, come on......we're not talking about a $4000 Yugo here. In the Santa Fe, we are talking about a very nice product. Originally Posted by SW17LS

It's not a good value though, it's painfully generic and with very low underlaying engineering value....plus oftentimes very spotty basic reliability and high parts costs relative to peers for long term service considerations. Originally Posted by mmarshall

For me, the best way to judge value should be "against its peers."

It is a nice product, but it’s nowhere near the caliber of an X5.Originally Posted by mmarshall

It’s also a great value, but it’s a value compared to say a Highlander or a Pathfinder or something like that, like JDR said…its peers.
