Do you walk around with a scanner in your pocket 🤣

When Toyota advertise it as their 2nd fastest car 0-60, it’s safe to fall into the GR category. But I see your point, GR is almost turning into an appearance package like TRD and F sport. At least at the moment the GR packs some kind of performance upgrade.
When I'm at the shop I have the scanners near me
yes lol!

See the funny thing is the LX has inherent "hard tech" that the rav simply will never have, but common consumers don't care about anything like that. Most know nothing about the things that truely make a car vs what version of CarPlay it has and if it has a cheap glass roof and a bunch of little cameras everywhere haha!

You have a nonrepresentative sample of people that you are "explaining" it to lol. I promise you 80% of people in the world who drive 4cyl cars would not convert to a V8 car with your lesson lol. Most people just don't care. For one, most of them can't afford a car with a V8...and people who buy new cars aren't going to start going out and buying old cars just to get V8s. To most people a car is just not important enough in their life for them to allocate that much financial weight or mental thoughtto what kind of engine it has. I drive people who drive 4 cyl economical cars in my car all the time, none of them have gone and bought a car of that caliber because they like my car...not one of them ever in my life. I have one good friend who did stop driving Accords and bought an ES350. But, he didn't go buy an LS.

For one, look at all the enthusiasts here who happily drive cars that aren't V8s fully understanding the characteristics of a V8...

the gas alone…and the increased maintenance are enough of a deterrent for anyone who has a four-cylinder to want to go to a V8

Right, people have the ability of liking something and not caring about posessing that thing themselves. I like boats, I have no boat. Would I like to have a boat and could I buy a boat? Yes. Am I willing to allocate the money and time and energy towards a boat that they require? No. So...no boat. People ride in my car and say "man what an incredible car Steve" but are they willing to spend over $2,000 a month operating such a car even if they can? By and large no. So...no high end car.

Even me, I care about a V8 to a certain point but not in everything. I like the V8 in my style car, but honestly if I were to buy a Range Rover or a big SUV, I would probably stick to the I6.

Seems to have worked well for me, got most people to switch from various V6/and 4s into 8s. I even have two converts into 12s now from V6s

I guess the only difference is these people did like cars and just didn't really understand what was out there plus are more around my age. I've even gone with them to PPI cars etc

I'll go through my phone and get my list of converts, most recent though is one of my LS460 customers. Just got him into a W12, took all 3 minutes of him driving to realize the difference lol!

You converted me too. Lol
I knew nothing about Audi' or their V12's until you started posting about them and I'm now a big fan.

For me it's what I want vs what I need.
I want an Audi V12.
I need a Rav4 or similar. Haha

I really didn't know much about W12's until Striker started posting about them. I didn't know how compact they. Now that I have a V8 daily driver, I'd love to experience the smoothness and effortless power of a V10 or W12.

From Wikipedia:

The W12 engine has a very compact design for a 12-cylinder engine, with the overall size of the 6.0 L (366 cu in) engine being smaller than Volkswagen's contemporary 4.2 L (256 cu in) V8 engine.
I do like that color on the RAV4. That's about it. Otherwise it's

Yeah they are very interesting engines, light too. A full dressed W12 is only 525-550lb vs most TT4.0 engines being the same or slightly heavier when I weighed them, only one I haven't been able to check personally so far is the Mercedes 4.0 but listed weight with partial accessories claims 460lb. So far the BMW 4.4 engine is the heaviest at over 500lb......the V12s are FAR heavier though at well over 600lb lol! The exception is the M137 engine, that one is both V8 weight and size

Your friends are car people, most people aren't. I promise you none of my friends have any interest in buying cars with big engines.

But are you actually going to go buy a car with a V12?

These are customers too, and NONE of my friends had asperations past a 4 cyl civic or V6 jeep when I met them and for the longest time. Once I got into nice cars they came around when they got some time around actual cars, most people just have no idea what they are missing

Thats exactly my point lol. You're not a convert unless you go out and buy one.

Most people don't care what they are missing. Its just an appliance to them.

That's true, and most can't afford it anyway nor would they choose to vs other things. Driving is after all just an annoying task for most.....

Good thing not everyone is like that and people can be shown what a good drive can be

The rav4 was never meant to be a good drive. It’s has always meant to be a practical, affordable car that families don’t need to take a big loan out for.

no one buying the rav4 is “missing” out on anything. It’s exactly what they ordered.
