General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 1
Well thats annoying.
I have an intermittant check engine light on the S580, put it in for that this evening. I went to activate the Valet Protect feature which tells me when the engine is started and stopped etc, I always use it when its in the dealer so I know when they are working on it...the feature is gone. Called MB Support, and they removed it!

well that sucks. These are the German maintenance stories that scare me😟
For mortgage, I am at 3.175%. Had to pay $1500 to buy the rate but over time, I have already recovered that.
Since this is car chat, I will talk about that. My Civic proved to be good enough for another year. My road trip to Vegas was good. It included a 2 1/2 hour delay on the return trip. A year ago, I rented a car to go to Williams, AZ and I got a new Mazda CX3 SUV lite thing. After two hours of driving, it felt like someone was shoving a 2x4 up under my legs.
The Civic is much more comfortable. To each their own.

I really like these C Classes. This one has the AMG package, it’s sharp. Moonlight white with red interior. It rides good even with the big wheels, fun to drive. Interior is solid and nice quality.
The ambient lighting makes even the lowly C Class feel special.
Yes. I've also noticed that, for some reason, Mercedes and BMW engineers, particularly on older BMWs from around 2000-2010, seem to have an uncanny knack for getting wagon-size wheels and rubber-band tires to ride decently....something that I cannot say for most other brands. I once drove a new 335i with the Sport-Package 35-series tires that rode like typical 55 or 60-series, and still had sharp handling. You still give up some pothole-protection, though, with low-profiles, no matter what kind of suspension you have.
