The way my truck's exhaust is configured, it's not really that loud at idle or cruise. I can let it idle in my driveway without bothering my neighbors. I can cruise in and out of the neighborhood at night or early morning and not disrupt people. With the magnaflow muffler and deleted resonator, it has more of that V8 rumble, but it's not necessarily loud.
If I floor it, it sounds like a Mustang. The only thing I'd really change is I'd dial back the rasp a little, but that really only hits above 6k which I rarely hit.
The BMW's exhaust is entirely stock. Probably won't modify it, I don't love the crackle and pops that modded BMW I6's often make. The most I'll do is potentially a downpipe replacement to allow me to increase the tune to stage 2. As the cat is in the downpipe, my options are a catless downpipe or one with a high flow cat. The latter is more expensive, but MIGHT get me through emissions testing and would help avoid the catless smell. The former would be cheaper, but harder to get through emissions testing.
My most adventurous mod so far this year has been installing magsafe phone mounts in both vehicles...so yeah, pretty boring. But at least I don't have my phone sitting in the cupholder(in my truck) or just flying around on the center console in the BMW.
that's sliding down a gentle hill, not really skiing.
Really cool to see people using their luxury cars in all weather conditions. Not afraid to get their cars dirty
a dirty mercedes is a low bar for 'cool'.

Call me a grumpy old man, no resonators, no want it
haha, you'd love my lc... can't hear engine on highway at cruise. awesome throaty roar when hitting it. burbling 'ruff' startup.

lc transmission does a great job doing rev matching on downshifts with the paddles.

How often do you have to pass emissions? I'm in Illinois and my 2019 G30 has to be tested every other year now.
Oh ok, I misunderstood lol! You said you had CP on all the cars and that's a brand of ceramic haha
Ohhhh. Only ceramic I have is some “ceramic” spray in a bottle made by I believe turtle wax I have in the garage. Does it work? No clue.

I had an 18 inch magnaflow muffler on my previous tundra and it gave it a little rumble. It also droned a little on highway. After 8yrs or so I was bored one day and had grown tired of it and put the stock muffler back on.
I went with Active Autowerke catted DP on the Supra. I came really close to going catless but didn’t want to deal with CEL (although some guarantee no CEL) but glad I didn’t go with the catless I had in mind because I just learned last night it’s not compatible with JB4. Which is what I’m debating now…JB4 or send my ECU off to have it unlocked and get a real tune.

castless on the Supra? No emissions testing near you?

Come to Ontario. 31MPH/50KMH over the speed limit and you get a roadside vehicle seizure, $10,000 fine and licence suspension

i agree entirely for whatever reason a B58/S58 sounds super ricer once you mess with the exhaust... but if you haven't already def fit a new intake for some nice turbo sounds
So they parked and locked my car yesterday at about 4:15...no call. This morning...still parked and locked at 10:30, so I messaged them. "He's going to get back to it today and I'll have an update this afternoon". Miraculously 10 minutes later I get a notification that the engine was started.
I've never seen a car dealership less driven to get a car back into a customers hands lol
no emissions testing here. That is the problem with the smog argument. My SUV that has no cat, had already gone through multiple emissions testing (cost paid for by me) until it was removed by legislation. Then, at some point, the fee to do the emissions testing was waived, and it was all done by taxes. And then completely removed.

we had some really fast highways here. At one time, 100 mph or 110 mph was the regular speed.
So they came up with this. And it has worked

Its just an A service (oil change, tire rotation and balance, a bunch of checks and an alignment), but they also are working on fixing the creaking driver seat.
Just got a text while I was sitting here. MB is sending a special lubricant for the plastic tabs in the seat that will be here tomorrow. So, I guess they'll have it one more day lol

Ok, that's funny.
Special lube spec'd for seat tabs?
Now I've heard it all. 🏆
Spoiler
Impossible to hear it all, mfgs always come up with new stuff... haha
Its funny because when I googled the problem the solution was to put a special lubricant into the plastic lol. I actually think I have that lubricant, when my 2020 S560 was new it had a similar issue and I found this little bottle of lubricant under the seat when it came back. It never creaked again so hopefully the same will happen this time!

It's every year in my county. There's an exemption for the first 2 years of a car's life iirc.
The BMW actually failed in November despite being stock. The prior owner broke a plastic tab on the OBD2 port that holds it in place, so it dangles freely(I can't even find a part # to replace it). In Nevada that's considered to be tampered with and illegal to register.

For reasons, I won't go any further into detail.
That's stricter than California. For Cali, no smog for the first 4 years, than every other year after that

Same on my E90. I leave a Bluetooth OBD dongle plugged in all the time, and I assume at some point I accidentally kicked it when getting in or out of the car.
But diesel passenger cars are exempt in IL, so I'm not even sure if that would be a problem.
