^^ that's great... must be a lot of local stop and go.
Not really. Actually, probably mostly short runs on the interstate for his commute. But he has been using FSD almost all the time. His watt hour per mile is 158.
you'd be surprised how many people will overlook their own politics when money comes into play. If the product becomes better and cheaper, people will buy it.
I can't get over how good my son's model 3 LR AWD highlands is. Insane combination of performance/tech/comfort for the money. If Elon makes the same level of improvement to the Y, it may put other car makers out of business.

The current Y already outsells (in the US) the Accord, Camry, Corolla, Civic and will probably be outselling the RAV4 this quarter. The updated Model Y has already been spotted being tested and will be out soon. For the money, there nothing that comes even remotely close to the Model 3 and Y for exactly what you mentioned, IMHO of course

The 180 you have done on this is amazing to me lol
We’ve gone from “I can’t possibly imagine the pain of plugging my car in” and “I love my gas station” to “he’s going to put everybody else out of business!” Hilarious.

Elon is a smart guy. That’s all I will say.
I remember, I used to be the one arguing with him 😂. I guess you can say he's evolved. I've said many times, once you go EV, you're perception changes, most don't want to go back

Yeah, 180 degrees hilarious. Almost as 180 degrees hilarious as you being a huge EV cheerleader with your pom poms out all the time telling everyone else that the very real drawbacks to EVs are fictious and that they just really EV haters that don't want to buy an EV. But then you turn around and use a multitude of excuses to purchase another ICE vehicle.
Of course, the reality is I said over 7 years ago on this board that I was going to purchase a Tesla. The advantages just had to outweigh the very real hassles and concerns, like range, charging and battery life. The Plaid was the car that did it for me. The improvements of the Model 3 also tip the scales. And if the Model Y improves as much, it will do it for a LOT of people. I know, change is hard, but I suspect you will actually get there. One day.

Not trying to be snarky - it's great how the capabilities of a Tesla got to the point where it has convinced a lot of people to get one.
I was in the same situation before 2016, test drove a Model S and 3 years later I got one. That one 15 min drive was enough to convince me to get one ages ago. 👍
It was actually a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV that peaked my interest, at only 138 HP and 150 miles of range, it was smoother than any four cylinder that exists. That lead to the Polestar which tipped the scales, and the Model Y that cemented it.
Glad Bob that it's all working out for you and all the roadblocks are being lifted. In my case, I'll never need to go back to an ICE, when my Sienna dies, that's all she wrote
