Very interesting thing I have noticed. This post does not invite political commentary… I have several left leaning friends on FB that have started posting anti EV propaganda, and several right leaning friends who have recently bought Teslas. Elon Musk as a political figure is the differentiator. Just an interesting observation.

Your observations are accurate, although many left leaning have turned more anti Tesla than anti EV. On the Polestar forum for example, most are left leaning, and you can't mention Tesla without the post turning into a big argument. You can discuss any other EV, no problem

I just went through a back and forth with a friend of mine on FB who is VERY liberal, and very outspoken who was posting all the same “fire” bull**** about Teslas that anti-EV folks always spew. You’re right, she was focused on Teslas specifically.
My neighbor who has the Ionic 5 also will not consider a Tesla because of Elon. Again, very liberal.

I think all of this will just blow over. One of my brother in law's who's a "Never Elon" now owns two Tesla's. A co-worker (who's never owned a Tesla) has a wife who doesn't want anything associated with Elon, just bought a Tesla. He crossed shopped it with a Prius and Camry hybrid, and the decision wasn't even close. Now that he's bought it, his wife doesn't really care anymore.
If people decide to shop other electric cars, that's ultimately still good for the EV market
I think you will find a lot of people who are politically sensitive won’t buy Teslas. But, if it opens up Tesla and EVs to another demographic that may not be a bad thing for Teslas business.
Politicizing a vehicle brand like this is generally not a good thing…I’m interested to see how it plays out.
On a lighter note, used a Rivian Adventure Network charger today. Nice plug and charge just like the Tesla SCs, but that CCS plug is so clunky compared to NACS.

As a Tesla owner, and a TSLA holder, I keep Elon's politics and Tesla at arms length. That aside, my prediction is Tesla's last quarter will be one of it's best...mainly due to low APR financing, their shift in leasing policies, increasing of referral credits ($500 to $1000), and the possibility of the $7500 credit going away after January.
On another note, my prediction...the $7500 credit isn't going away next year, at least immediately. It will "sunset" over one or two years

That's awesome! What's the reliability of these chargers?
These specific cabinets are still limited to Rivians only so sample size is pretty limited. From what I've heard it's pretty good. Still very small compared to the other players in the market, but speeds are up to 300KW (even though a Rivian isn't going to get close to that). I'm going to do a charging write up tomorrow when I've got some time. Just got home from the Boston metro and it was my first longer trip with the Rivian. We're partial to flying when the drive gets over 4-5 hours, but NJ to MA isn't too bad and we knew my wife's family would be giving the kids a bunch of stuff

I agree that the threat of the $7500 credit going away is going to drive a ton of sales in Q4

how is losing sales to sensitive people a good thing?
hypocrisy knows no bounds though so if Tesla has really the best ev they won't miss much of the "triggered" market.

If it opens up their market to people who are sensitive in the other direction who would never have considered an EV before, it may not make a difference. I never said it was good, in fact I said its generally the opposite on the second line of that post you did not quote:

i think the whole "elon's politics are turning off people from buying teslas" is massively overblown.
in uber progressive LA cybertrucks are everywhere because 'being seen' is more important there.
In other news, I have a coworker who a referred that is getting 6.3 miles per Kwh in his Model 3 RWD. And that is for the entire 1600 miles he has driven it since purchase.
