Ocean is nowhere near the worst car, just has the looming issue of the parent company going kaput any day now.
I'm going to tread lightly here because if you remember, both of us got booted from the bz4x thread back in 2022 by no other than my friend, Bitkahuna 🤣
The argument that Toyota released a half baked product on purpose is just a head shaker. It's definitely not fair to try and release a new product and expect it to match the model Y, because that vehicle is light years ahead of all the BEV competition, but if you can't even make a car as good as Hyundai/Kia, than don't make it. If you're not ready, don't release it and pretend you weren't trying, that just doesn't pass the smell test. That excuse just doesn't fly, IMO

The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are pretty much at the top of the segment right behind Tesla, so that's a pretty high bar. The BZ and its Subaru counterpart are nothing more than mediocre compliance vehicles with little thought, effort, or investment put into them, and it shows. Arguably the only worse EV is the MX-30, which isn't even on sale here anymore.

Too bad that's not reflected in its absolutely woeful sales volume.

I totally agree, as a previous owner of the Ioniq EV, and now a current owner of the Ioniq 5, amazing car. The reason I use Hyundai and Kia as a comparison is because they seem to be high on the trash list of some Toyota/Lexus owners, so I would think that being under the Hyundai/Kia bar would be a badge of shame. Apparently not

Toyota owners are generally reluctant to buy an EV to begin with. The only support I've seen for the BZ comes from Toyota investors and YouTubers. But I don't think anyone pretends that this is anything more than a compliance vehicle.
I definitely would. As far as compelling EVs from "legacy" automakers go, there's Hyundai/Kia and BMW, and then there's everyone else. Throw Polestar in with those first two if you consider them Volvo rather than their own thing.

Ford, GM, and VW's EV's are also more compelling than the BZ as far as mainstream legacy offerings go. The Ariya as well if the price can be stomached.
This may be as bad as the BZ, but we don't get it in the US:

Buying an RZ/bz/Soltera is like spending $5K on a Purebred German Shepherd or Rottweiler and coming home and finding out they were neutered Trust me, you're better off with the $100 Pitbull, everything intact 😂
