The government has paid for plenty of gasoline vehicles and gas stations, oil refineries, subsidies for transport etc.

Thats also not what he said. He said if gas prices were left to where they would naturally be without oil subsidies people would convert to EVs and other more efficient vehicles much more quickly just for the financial savings.

Getting into politics & debate discussion. Suggest moving on from that before being asked to exit the thread

@bitkahuna we went out for dinner with our neighbors who have the Ioniq 5 tonight, my wife drove it to dinner and I drove it back from dinner. Its seriously nice! Super comfortable, rides great, really quiet and refined. Great ambient lighting, really like it!

cool! it's pretty 'simple' inside and not luxurious, but with more normal controls than a tesla, and the drive/ride are a great balance. it's also surprisingly roomy... but the big wheelbase relative to its length with short front/rear overhangs means the passenger space in particular is huge.

it took me a bit to warm up to its looks after it came out but now i love it.

I absolutely love how the Ioniq 5 looks. It's design is similar to my first "sports car", a 1986 VW GTI. You can see the German inspiration

They still sell a lot of Suburbans and GM makes a fortune on each one.

They're just expensive, they've (all the big ones) have become the luxury car of SUVs.

Not including the Escalade, the big boys at GM sell about a quarter million of these a year. I went to GM Authority and roughly added them up for 2023, that's not exact. At least 250,000 of them, and let's say conservatively each is 60k....poof. Money from the sky.

That's a shytton of expensive trucks. And the profit margins are just HUGE.

They ain't worried about Honda crossovers. But yes, there are many more choices as opposed to long ago.

Big American BOF SUVs are never going anywhere, ever. Especially the Suburban. Gas/electric/nuclear/popcorn-machine-powered lol.
You really think that's a lot of Suburbs sold?

I mean Honda sells more Civics in one quarter than GM sells all year. Anyway, that's all I have to say on the subject

Yeah the space efficiency is really impressive.

Between Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, and Yukon XLs, yes it's about 250,000 they sold last year.

It's no right or wrong or good or bad or too many or too few, that's just the approximate figure I wanted to lay out.

250,000 is also not that many. And I bet most of those are government.... FBI, DEA, state and city police departments etc. If it was 250k a quarter, that would be impressive. If you think 250k in a year is impressive, than you and I have different ideas of what "a lot" is

A quarter of a million trucks with the majority being over $70,000k + is nothing? Do the math. There are lots of them for government duty but that does NOT outnumber civilian sales. Ask yourself why all these places use these trucks, why are there a bunch of gas armored Suburbans protecting the president?

Lol ok.

What is "a lot" to you? I left out Escalades and actual GM 1500s... the number would be way higher.

This is an EV conversation thread. Let’s drop the GM truck talk.

My friend’s ‘21 M3LR screen is messing up again after getting it back from service. He believes it’s due to the heat related. When it’s hot in the car, the screens go bezerk but once it cools down, he said the screen is fine.

So it wasn’t the “screen protector” that Tesla service say they removed. So I believe he’s using the cabin overheat protection now. No one else experience this? Worst part is, it’s not summer yet. 100+ degree + humidity summers 🥵

Last summer my car was in a 112F heat wave, no issues. Same with the Polestar. I know the Polestar's is cooled by the AC, I'm assuming it's the same for Tesla.

Sorry he's having this issue
