Hi again all,
So i tried to search for threads on the keyless entry system and found lots on the key replacements but that's not exactly my issue. I've notcied that I'm getting less and less distance with my OEM keyless entry system. Sometimes it will work from far away and some (most) times I must be right over the drivers side engine to get a response. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems or a fix? I have TWO remote keys and tried both with fresh batteries and found both have the same problem, which leads me to believe it must be either the receiver, antennae, or something else? Having a problem with this system def defeats the purpose of the LuxLink, so I would truly like to get this fixed. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks!

Haha, all Jobs Jokes aside, anyone know anything about the keyless entry? What is the purpose of little window on the rearview mirror? Not the one for autotinting mirrors but the one to the left? Could that be the keyless entry receiver?

Not exactly the answer you are looking for, but a little trick to extend your range. Hold the metal tip of the key (like it is pointing at your head) to your head and push the button. It extends the range about 50%. It has something to do with the water in your head extending the signal. Sounds stupid........try it.

It's not the water in your head that does this.
Hahaha, yeah I also heard if you hop on one leg, pat your head, and cluck like a chicken at the same time while trying to unlock the car, you can get about a mile!

So can anyone tell me what are the two items labelled with arrows below? One is labelled with a red arrow, quite possibly where the Bluetooth speaker sits in newer models? Or any other educated guesses? And then the blue arrow, which is the area I was referring to previously posted. Is this the "eye" for the keyless entry system?

The blue arrow is pointing to one of the sensors for the "electrochromatic" auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
There's a larger light sensor on the front of the mirror (that faces traffic).
The mirror uses the front sensor to detect the ambient light level and the rear sensor (the one your blue arrow is pointing to) to detect if there's a car behind you with their headlights on.
When you're driving at night, and there's a car behind you, you'll notice that the rear view mirror (and the outside mirrors) get dark/tinted. If you cover that sensor (with the blue arrow) with your thumb and wait about 10-15 seconds, you'll see the mirrors "undarken".

The red arrow location IS BLANK. As you may have guessed correctly, it is used for mic location on cars with factory blue tooth.
My guess is that the antenna for the keyless may sit inside the center console where the TPMS ECU is. Again, just a guess...
