Can I disable the onboard OEM theft deterrent system by just removing the ECU for that system? The high mileage LS400 that I'm fixing back up (after a deer strike) has always had an iffy anti-theft system. It's 50/50 that when you lock the door with the key, the alarm will be set off when you unlock it, and disabling the starting system. Car has 407K miles on it and just isn't valuable enough to mess with trying to fix the system.

The keyless entry system doesn't work reliably either, but again, not worth fixing.
