Anyone out there know where I can purchase key remote that can be programmed by the dealer to my car. For some reason, I want the ease with this security system but, I can't help from feeling I am being robbed by the Lexus dealer ($500.00+) to install new system. They say that's the only way I can go.

Any ideas?

Question

Rro,

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Don't you have any of the remotes for the car's security system that came with the car?

Tell us more about the problem.

Marty

Default Any Aftermarket Alarm Would Do

R - If U get a name brand aftermarket alarm, U should be able to use the brain or add an expansion module to it to add additional features to it. I have a Viper 800 onto which I added their X-module to control my amp rack, neon & a few other bells & whistles. For $500, U should be able to pick up an aftermarket number which will give U better protection than the factory job as well as do a few extra things but remote start is a pain!

Default After Market Keyless entry system

The control module on my key is damaged. I bought the car used with one key only. I would like to replace the remote key only but, the dealer stated " the key is linked to module inside of the car. I would have to purchase the entire system to correct the problem." I thought this was strange in that the module can be reprogrammed by the dealer to the car. If so, why need to purchase the entire system. Why not just an unprogrammed blank key?

The dealer may be telling you the straight scoop.

I think I recall my dealer telling me they needed one remote to program another. But, I'm not sure.

One of the members of the forum is a Lexus tech. Maybe he'll pick up on this thread and can give you the straight scoop.

Does anyone know the handle of the tech to give Rro a hand?

I don't know where you got a PRICE OF 500.00 it should be 325.00 + labor about 80.00 depending on where you live. the set will come with 2 keys and a chip. the keys will already be cut buy lexus.you can't get any after market parts for this system or any kind of BOX. the later models have a differant system where you need the other master key not a 92 es

Default Remote key

The dealer is correct. The remote chip in the remote entry ecu cannot be reprogrammed. So you have to buy a new chip with a matching key or keys. Most service departments charge about 1 hour labor to install.
