mjr24,

Your door hinge is out of adjustment. Some people suggest taking it to Lexus for an adjustment. Others use the "jack the door up with a 2x4 to support the door frame" method to push it back into play. Lastly, some will replace the hinge assembly to remove the guess work.

All are good alternatives depending on how your door is out of wack.

Ali,

Several techs and diy'ers have suggested NOT using wd-40 or other lubricants because it breaks down the factory bushings and causes more problems that it fixes in the short run.

PC, Should I be able to tell by looking at it if the hinges are out of alignment?

Default same problem

does it make a loud creeking poping noise?

if so i had the same problem after it rained hard here in so cal.

Heres what i did, theres a CAP on the door hinge that bolts to your fender that slows your door twice when opening and closing, take a 10mm rachet al loosen it, get some greese and lube it, and re assemble it, problem solved.

DO NOT use WD-40, it washes out the grease in your door bearings, then its time for a new hinge.

I would look at both sides and find out what the difference in both hinges, and then decide on the what is the apporiate procedures according to previous post.

Common problem. Open your door slowly. Then see if it sags as it opens more and more. The best thing to do is goto Wal mart and get some spray white lithium grease. Spray the stuff on. use the door a bit. then spray more on. Do this every couple of days and then weekly then monthly. You have to keep these hinges lubricated or you are in big trouble.

Don't use WD-40. It is water based and baaaad for the hinges once it dries out.

Could you elaborate on that? What do you mean by CAP and exactly where is it? I couldn't find a CAP. I asked a tech at my Lexus dealer and he didn't know of any CAP.

Thanks.

When I spoke to my Lexus dealer about this probelm (and the CAP), the tech said there isn't an adjustment for the door hinge. Have you had yours adjusted? Thanks.

One would think you culd just answer "yes" or "no." I have to do a search to see if you ever had yours adjusted?

I did anyway. I couldn't find any post from you where you answered that question.

SMARK,

I would like to help you out, but it seems that you are looking for a concrete answer on how to fix YOUR door. I have not seen or worked on your car so I am not sure what you are trying to repair. If you have read this entire thread you would be aware that I offered the advice in a statement that "Others use the "jack the door up with a 2x4 to support the door frame" method to push it back into play." The OTHERS referred to have written about this in other threads that I said you should SEARCH for. I do not know why you are so confused.

For the most part, you are trying to get a yes or no about a procedure that is very subject to debate. If that is your extent of research in asking me a closed ended question then YES. Go ahead and try it. I will warn you that done incorrectly you will ruin your car, if your hinge is NOT the major issue then it will NOT fix it. The dealer will offer to REPLACE the hinges on your car for $1000 and therefore not have any book on how to regrease these setups.

So in the future. Do a repetitive search for the subject matter you are trying to discover and I assure you this forum will have that information. If you don't do a good search you will end up with only half the story that you got this time and chances are you will ruin your nice car.

London Bill Wrote: The hinge dropping is a common fault on the Soarer, first sign is the door dropping when you open it (not much at first), you may also notice that when closing the door it rises up when it hits the lock plate (mine does it, about 2mm).
Next time, do your own homework please.

Good luck

I am not confused nor am I asking you about specific instructions. I asked YOU personally a simple yes or no question (i.e., have you ever had YOUR door adjusted?).

SMARK,

No need to get angry Smark. Answer to your question is YES. Now, how does that help you? Did that fix your door? I am attempting to help you fix your situation and you are being extremely difficult. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish with your sarcastic and childish responses to my attempts to assist you. If you would like to ask any more questions to me directly, please take advantage of the PM system. I will be glad to help all I can.
