Problem with door hinge, solution?

My old dawg has started making noise around the driver door hinge. It pops once or twice when opening or closing. No work has ever been done, the body is untouched... Anyone have this problem? Know the solution?
It sounds like its coming from the track that holds the detents to hold the door at a certain position within its travel... I don't think that it is in the hinge itself. I imagine there is a ball bearing on a spring or something that puts tension on the part. I've tried grease, but that location already has plenty of grease in the track. There are two smaller bolts with philips/ hex heads that seem to hold this track in place. The track semi-circular in shape...
Any suggestions?
TIA....

yeah i had this problem
The hinge was startin to weaken and wouldn't pop out all the way so the edge of the door started catchin on the fender. it started taking paint off
OUCH!!
but the solution i did was to replace the hinge from then on no problem. its probalby just due to wear and tear considering that it gets the most use of all your doors
