Need help
i have a 95 sc300 and runs like crap. when i picked it up, had zero issues. went to wash it, and trunk badge came off and water got into trunk.
heres my symptoms
CEL is on
car won't start without giving it gas
idles smooth as long as i stay on gas
CEL is intermittent. when it flickers on and off, my power comes back (crap acceleration when on and no AC) and ac turns back to cold
when driving, the rev limiter as it would be in neutral won't let me go above 3500 rpm. if i try, the CEL flickers and tries to break the limiter with jumpy power. also, car is running extremely rich. any ideas? I'm thinking the water in the trunk (radio amp side) shorted out the ecu or something. i can't figure it out. oh and I've tried to get codes run, nobody has the old style gray circle port adapter and with the factory diagnosis under the hood, reader won't connect to the ecu. I'm stumped and would like to get my car running back to normal instead of being stopped by a stupid car wash.

I would say you have gotten something wet in the trunk area. i dont see how possibly getting the amplifier wet, would cause all these problems, but i am not ruling that idea out either. Try to find out, besides the Stealership, what the codes are. You might have a leak by the front window trim allowing the ECU to have gotten wet. Just a thought. Did you have the car running and it occurs out of the blue, and did it run great before the car wash correct? More details please. If you suspect the ECU, which is under passenger side seat (under floormat), pull back the carpet and see if it indeed wet, then go from there. Try drying it out with a hair dryer or something similar. Report back...
the passer window weatherstripping is perfect. no holes or tears. and i drove it to the car wash with no issues. parked, sprayed it down, and couldn't start it again without the above said. ecu isn't wet at all
west fort worth. and no i didn't clean the engine bay. maybe my fuel pump is shot? theres no carpet or anything covering my fuel tank and the pump connectors are directly on the other side of the trunk badge
Water messed up some connection probably.....did you pull any codes? The ECU is under the dash, but I have no idea were the wires go... this might help,

update....turns out, through talking to a toyota/lexus master tech, my ECU is done. he was naming off my symptoms before i even said anything to him. apparently this is very common with 2jz ecu in general? getting a loaner ecu tonight and sending my ecu off for a rebuild. i hear it runs a HELL of a lot better once rebuilt so why not?
yes i tried the jumper codes. my CEL would not flash steadily enough to even give a code. 2 steady, then rapid flashing in between steady. all f'd off.
ill keep posted once again and try and pull some vids of before and after. see if i can get it stickied.
