Default Car won't stay running

Hey guys, still kinda new to the site, but have a 1995 SC300 that won't stay running. Was taking it in to get a smog check done on it and before I get there lost power. Car was sluggish and burning fuel like crazy. It burned 1/2 tank of gas in 60 miles. Have replaced the EGR valve and Exhaust O2 sensor, b/c it needed it, then everything was fine for about 40 miles. Happened again. Figured it was the ECU after that, so bought another one and replaced it. Still have smoke and now the car won't stay running. Starts then dies and the only way it continues to run is if I have my foot on the gas spewing the white smoke. Please help! Trying to give this car to my son.

Which ECU? The Engine computer ECU or the fuel pump ECU? If you didn't do one it's the other.

Thanks for the help guys. Soarer13oy-The car isn't showing CEL and didn't when it started acting up. SC400-It's not making any noises, just feeling sluggish. SC400slide-I replaced the engine computer.

Then you might wanna do the 12v mod. Just search 12v mod on Lexus SC400 on Google and the thread will be there. Or did you try that? Sorry if I missed it...

Hey guys, once again thanks for your help. Just finished the 12v mod and it worked. Took the car out for a nice long drive and no issues. Thanks again. Will stay on the the forum to learn more about upcoming issues and how to increase performance.

Good to hear! If that didn't work, my next diagnosis would have been a blown headgasket.
