Default Swapping Key Internals?

If I get a junkyard key for my SC, can i swap out the internals and the key portion into the new frame? My key has a broken keychain section, so without getting it reprgrammed, can i just swap my key internals?

This should be 100% possible with a <95 key. I have a 93 sc and I had to open it up to replace the battery. The pc board removes completely from the key so it would just be a simple swap! Someone else can confirm the newer model keys....

I reread your original post and now i understand what OLT meant, the pc board is swappable not the key. Your best bet is to swap the pc board, into a new uncut key, and recut it.

Default swapping internals and chip from the remote receiver ecu

DId swapping the internal into you key work? Did swapping the chip with another chip and matching key work? I found a 92 LS400 wrecked, with the key in the ignition(key with one button on the side. I pulled the remote reciever from the truck, which had the same number as the ecu in my 92 sc400. I swapped the chips in the ecu, but it still doesnt work. Is there somehting i have to do to make it work, or will it work. I tried some of the programming techniques that i found from searching, but none of the seem to work. I do not have a master remote key, only a master non remote. does taht matter? Help anyone? would be nice to get the keyless working, but not at a great expense.

Its easy to swap internals .for the ignition all you have to do is press the little slug and pull the lock out . the hardest part will be ching the locks on the doorhandle.
