Default Key shell with removable blade?

My key broke this past week and I need to get it replaced. Electronics and all that work fine. What I was wondering is where can I just get a shell and exchange the blade and electronics? I see a lot of them on eBay but they say you need to have the key cut. Any help would be great!

Unfortunately the blades (or most of what I've seen) have the plastic of the fob glued/molten around them. Your best bet would be cutting a new key. Whether or not it requires programming depends on the year of your SC.

See what Sewell has to offer.

if you swap out the blade you will weaken the new key, as they are glued/molded in.
I would get a new shell with a new blade, swap over the electronics, take the new key to be copied from your old blade. some lexus dealers only charge like $30 some charge all the way up to $70 to copy the key.

As the others have suggested, just get the new blade cut. Locksmiths charge around $25 to do this.

Alright thanks everyone. I'll just go the right way and get a key cut.

Quick question, do the electronics fit into these?

probably not, they will only fit properly into a key that looks exactly like yours, they all have different shaped electronics inside. also no ebay links on the forum post the picture up instead.

If the ebay listing says it works with Lexus and Toyota keys, it should work as those shells are made to fit the electronics from the older Lexus/Toyota keys with the integrated remote. This is assuming you have the newer 98-00 SC that came with the integrated lock/unlock/trunk remote key.

So if your key looks like this

Then the electronics should swap out into the key in that photo you posted up.

So the little side button on my '95 key fell out 3 years ago. Where's a good place to get a shell and blade that's uncut?

Edit: I'd also like to add the word affordable in my request lol. I found a few on ebay but they're $160+ dollars!!!

My car came with the one button key (working) but it also came with a 4 button fob programmed to the car. It operates the remote start and doors. They are MEGA cheap or included if you plan to add alarm/remote start etc. unless it's installed already. Is that a cheap option for you?

your best option is to buy a blank and VIN cut at the dealer or anywhere else that does keys
