5th gen RX merged rumor and launch threads
The only Toyota car I owned was the early days of RAV4 and never own a Lexus. I currently drive the Model S for many years and really enjoy the ride, exterior design and the availability of superchargers. I've been looking for an SUV to replace my Model S like the eGV70 and RZ, I like the RZ exterior and interior design so I put down the deposit for the RZ even though the RZ has an embarrassing range. When Lexus displayed the 2023 RX last week, I like both exterior and interior design so I start looking into the PHEV for the first time. I reviewed the NX 450h+ and found out the 0-60, features and interior are comparable. I will wait for the RX 450h+ spec to weigh in against others. For those who own/drive the RX, can you share your driving experience, comfort of RX ? Thanks in advance.
Did not want a 4 cylinder engine and especially with the lag from a stop with a Turbo Supercharger. I'm not a fan of Turbo Charged engines. I prefer the V-6 in the RX450h. I have owned 4 LS's and 6 Rx's and have recently ordered a 2022 RX450h. I was concerned that the 2023 would be a 4 banger and low and behold it is. Some 2023 RX's come with Turbo Charged engines, some with CVT and some with 6 speed transmissions. Some with Turbo Chargers and some without Turbo Chargers. I have found the RX has a very good/pleasant ride and is very quiet, especially with my preferred Michelin tires. The RX is a much quieter and smoother ride than the Subaru SUVs. The eCVT on the RX450h is a great transmission and eliminates the seeking of gears on the eight speed transmission on the RX350. The Lexus/Toyota WARRANTY on the "h" battery is 10 years & 150,000 miles. Plus, I regularly get 30 miles per gallon on gas. Toyota/Lexus has one of the best, if not the best record of minimal maintenance required of any of the "Hybrids". I am pleased with my decision on ordering a 2022 RX450h and not waiting for the 2023 four banger ugly duckling. In closing, I find the RX450h very comfortable and responsive (even with 20" wheels/tires.
I got bad news for you. The Lexus V6 has turbo lag without the turbos!
This is especially true for the RX. It’s like the vehicle is asking if you really want to go when you hit the accelerator hard.
I’m hoping the electric motors will change that on the 500h and 450h+. Can’t wait to test drive one if they even have one on the lot to test drive.
Right now, all NX450+ are sold before they even land on the dealer’s lot.

I have a 2016 RX 350 with the V6 and a 2020 ES 300h with the 4 cylinder hybrid and only the 2 front motors (only 1 driving the wheels)
Off the line the front wheel drive 4 cylinder feels quicker and much smoother.
Also, the eCVT is excellent. Far, far superior to the 8 speed auto. In reality it is not a CVT that people call CVT. It's just a very smart planetary gear transmission controlled by an electric motor.
The new RX has the same 4 cylinder plus additional, more powerful rear motor. I expect it to be good. In fact I am planning to switch my RX350 to the RX 350H when this silly supply and demand thing calms down.

Looking at the last few posts which answered some of my questions on RX driving comfort, thanks. I have a few other questions/comments about the 2023 RX 450H+ if someone can help.
1. I understand 2022 NX use run-flat tires. I never used one before. Does 2023 RX use the run-flat?
2. Does the panoramic roof have the interior cover? I know the RZ does not. I hate driving under the sun?
3. I look up the EU spec. and it says the RX450h+ 0-60 is around 7 sec., sigh. I expect the 4-cylinder engine will have some lag when accelerate but hoping the electric motor can provide better torque, we'll see.
4. My Model S is a single gear called direct drive, the best I've ever driven. I wonder if the eCVT is something similar to that?
I am still debating whether I want to switch to the PHEV after 9 years of driving the EV but hope this RX450h+ does not disappoint too much.

Pricewise RX 450h+ should be closer to a model Y. Not to say model Y is slow, but much smaller and less refined, based on having a RX and a model Y within our extended family.
Model S and RX is a completely different animal and class. Lol
RX to me and most people is a family trip miles crusher. I don’t care about 0-60. The current RX 0-60 is fine.
Runflats tires can be changed out. But keep in mind you’ll need a spare tire in the trunk.

I guess some folks think the RX is a race car. Nothing further from the truth.
