Default Secondary TPMS codes

Hi,

I have an RX450h 2013 and I need to install the winter tires on it.
I have a new set of rims, tires and OEM TPMS.
The dealer told me that on the 2013 RX the secondary TPMS codes feature does not exit anymore.

Is there any DIY to introduce the secondary codes without having to go every time to the dealer (and pay lots of $$$) ?

Thanks.

Based on what Ive read and asked

Its a drive to the dealer everytime...or black electrical tape over the light
or

Such a shame as so many of us in Canada need this capability

I simply ignore the light and forgo the TMPS on my winter set. Eventually, I will either take the bulb out or cut the wire going to it.

Thanks for the replies.
"Ignore the light" clearly is an option, but I hoped for a method to fix that and the ATEQ Quickset looks promising.

Does anybody has this gadget? Does it work as promised on Lexus? Any tips, tricks, good/bad experiences to share?

Thanks.

Your other option may be to buy an e-bay cable with a questionable TechStream license of the software dealers use. Then you'll be able to program TPMS to your heart's desire.

So, I did a bit of reading about TPMS and see there is more to it than I thought.

My 2012 Kia TPMS light came on recently but did not indicate which tire was low. I brought them all up to 32 and the light went out.

Does the RX350 indicate the tire? If so, I guess when the dealer rotates the tires the system gets reset also.

Where is the pressure sensor and transmitter, in the tire or in the wheel? What happens when you get new tires?

Nope, it does not tell you which tire. On the 450h, it will tell you tire pressure right on the speedometer, but will not tell which tire is which. You can rotate tires without resetting the TPMS. I think there's a button for it under the dash. I had no issues leaving it be. An interesting thing, though, when I was running my winter set, the TPMS would pick up the sensor in the spare and would indicate I had 65PSI in just one tire.

The receiver is integrated into the valve stem. When tires are replaced, some places (ahem NTB ahem), will add-on "TMPS Service" charge, claiming they performed TPMS sensor check-up, which will, allegedly, be mandated in the future by the Federal government. I got it waived last time I was there and will never go back. The sensor itself does not get in the way of tire replacement.

P.S.
Note where balancing weights are located on your wheels. Right opposite of TPMS sensor!

i didn't know what NTB was, had to Google it, but I don't think we have them in No. CA. We have friends that own a tire shop and we get new tires there, but not since we have owned a car with TPMS. Something to look forward to.

Thanks for the info about the sensing. On the Kia I brought all the tires up to 35+ and then let air out at home when the tires were cold and with an accurate gauge to get the light to go out. I guess the same procedure would work with the Lexus.
