I have a droid 4, and just got a RX350. the phone and contacts paired perfectly but the text messages don't come through. Anybody figure this out?

Model years 2010-2012 text messages are not available. I'm unsure of 2013. I ran the Lexus Enforn Emulator application and didn't see any text message application. Maybe someone with a 2013 will enlighten us.

 

"Messaging support" is new to the 2013 and Enform 2.0 for both the RX and RXh. I don't text, tweet, or do the Facebook thing, and am an iPhone user, so can't represent this in a practical sense. I know some capability exists on the Lexus side though from previous research:
-p61 of this Nav manual for my RX450h discusses how to call someone that sent a SMS/MMS message
-p163 of this manual for my RX450h is similar to above, but p173 and further on in that doc discusses how to do do quick replies to received messages. That's likely what the OP was after.

 

it is a 2013 RX and a Droid 4. According to the dealer the texting only works for Samsung and Blackberry. That seems really odd to me. Thanks for the help so far. I will let you know if I figure it out.

I have 2013 RX 350 and the iPhone 5.
I can receive text messages and NAV system will read them to me. It will not resend the canned mesages to reply with. Nor will it call back to sender of text message. My dealer had told me Text Messenging would not work with the iphone. I was surprised to discover it would in fact receive and read text messages.
I usually have phone plugged in to recharge. I will have to try to unplug USB connection to see if it will then send a canned text or call back.

side note: When plugged in with USB connection the enForm Pandora will not work. I have to unplug it to get it to work.

Update: When using USB connection it gets phone "confused" with bluetooth functions. Use the power outlet to charge phone NOT USB connection.

I have a 2014 RX350 and an iPhone 4s. When I select the phone, I can see the MESSAGE button highlighted, however, I cannot see any SMS/MMS messages nor do I get any notification. Can someone kindly help? Thanks in advance!

 

I have an iPhone 4s and my wife has a 5s. Both phones work flawlessly with the RX450h (2014). We get notifications when text arrives and the RX will read them back. We can reply to them as well. In order to make this work, you have to enable this interaction both in the RX and on the iPhone Bluetooth sections.
