Default Anyone using a Samsung Galaxy

It seems like everyone is using an iPhone on the forum. With iPhone you can press the off hook and Siri takes over and you can voice text. I can't find anyway to voice text with this phone hands free. I can find a previous text and reply manually. I had a similar post but I think my title was to vague. The Technical Expert at Lexus told me I was using way more features than the average Lexus user and was looking into it. Funny.

I never heard of this!

If you get a phone stand and just configure your phone to answer to "OK Google" (it may be disabled), then you could voice text using voice commands. But with Android, it requires the network data to be open on your phone. Same with Bixby.

They don't have the capability on Android phones for the 2016 and 2017 RX.

Only the 2018 NX, RC, LC and LS can activate Google Assistant through the steering wheel. I hope they add it to the 2018 RX.

Is that Android Auto - I hear Toyota is finally giving in on that.

Unfortunately it's not. It's something I've only seen on the cars with the 10th generation navigation systems.

I know that Apple Carplay is coming to select Toyotas starting with 2019 models. No word on when it will make it into Lexus models or which cars will get it.

I agree. I work at my local dealership and Apple Carplay is the thing I get asked about the most.

Unfortunately I get asked this after they purchased the car and people flip out sometimes. Nobody really knows when Android Auto/Apple Carplay are coming to Lexus.

OP,
I am looking into apps that can map Android answer call button to Google Now, If not, I am also looking into writing an app myself and create an .apk file. Not having tech features is annoying.

As per what Technical Expert at Lexus told you, yes he/she is right. In Canada at least majority of Lexus owners are older generations. Probably because they are the only one who can just keep buying new Lexues every few years.

I can do OK Google. If I get an iPhone I can use Siri. My 2016 Toyota worked directly through the navigation system. I pressed speak, text Jim, asked me which response to send, said "2", asked if I want to send, "yes" and done. It worked flawlessly. I assumed a Lexus would have it. I just keep text I received from people I usually text in my phone. Lexus downloaThen select it from the screen and select "send response."

I just downloaded Android Auto. I can voice command with OK google with the phone in my pocket. You can use it with your off hook button on your steering wheel with most auto makers but Toyota and Lexus . I went down their compatible list and future list. No Lexus. Must have a sweet deal with Apple.
