OK, my "new to me" 2006 RX is, so far, flawless. Except there is some sort of "creak" in the dash that happens (only) when the vehicle is moving and especially when turning. Sounds like dash parts are rubbing together, esp when the vehicles "flexes/stresses" on turns. I spent 2 hours trying to isolate it but cannot find the problem. I think it's inside the dash. It's not a big deal, really, but does need to be fixed.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the 'Dash Rattle' club! Typically the issues have been with where the cowl meets the galss, although others have had actual dash rattles internal to the RX. Ours was outside and the Techs put some kind of rubbery tape between the cowl and windshield, so far seems to be working.

Yeah, it something at the edge of the window, perhaps near where the visor is or perhaps exactly where you said. I hope the dealer can fix it.

Don't hold your breath though, our '04 had it & never got rid of it.
Was the worst in cold weather.

Cheif, why did you purchase a second RX if the earlier model had issues that were never corrected? Have you had issues with your 2008/2009 model? I had many with both my 2008 RX350. My X5 has been like a vault!! Do you think Lexus Quality is sliding down hill?

Let me explain, the '04 was a 1st year design which as I have noticed isn't the best way to go. We should have waited a year or so.The '09 is the last year for that design, all the bugs must be out! They are - as our '09 is no comparison to our '04. It rides like a "vault" as u say. A better tranny, engine, ride, etc. We have never had a issue as yet & have 16K on it. Kind of miss the trips to the dealer though as they have great coffee & food. Really, it is twice the vehicle as our '04 was & our '04 had many great quailities too.
I really think LEXUS Quality is second to no one, it is at the top of the hill. Our RX is the best vehicle we have ever owned. Now our Mustang Cobra is great for other reasons u probably can figure out.

I have an odd rattle, squeak from my back seats. They do not make the noise when I have seats reclined all the way back, but if I have them straight up every little bump makes them squeak like metal on metal.. ideas? Sorry to thread jack.

I had the same thing. The dealer told me to put a little leather conditioner on them, between the seats where they touch each other, and it completely quieted them down. 1 treatment lasted for over 2 years now.Originally Posted by badams1897

Update (I am the original poster): My dealer had the car today and his top tech (who has previously worked on my LS460) took the dash out and installed insulation as per the TSB on "creaking". An amazing difference...the vehicle is now as tight as a Virginian (although I am in Pennsylvania and certainly not a Virginian!!
). I hope the creaking doesn't come back when it's very hot or very cold (it was mild today....in the 60s). But at least they are trying.

I had this same problem with an IS200. Turned out it was the seat springs. A spray of lube and the problem was gone.
Yes I know it sounds like it is coming from the dash. It sounded like that to me too. It's worth a shot.

I am a car nut, have owned five Lexus automobiles, currently still have three. No other car comes close to the quality, fit, and finish a Lexus offers. No more BMW's, MB's, of Infinity's for me. Lexus quality is as you said, second to no other manufacturer.Originally Posted by xfirechief

No doubt Lexus (Toyota) tries very hard. If they stick to their original purpose, then all good for them and us. They over expanded and fell in the same trap. Now they have realized, BIG is not necessarily good. Meeting customer expectations, that's the real goal. BIG does not do anything for the customer.
