Default Squeaky dash board

Another small problem. Going over bumps I occasionally get some dash board squeaks or ticking sounds on the passenger side - drives you crazy after a while. I had fashioned a shim to put between the dash and windshield but am looking for a little more elegant solution. The first shim lasted about a year but the sound is now back and I don't want a dash covered in ugly shims. I have heard silicone spray is not a good idea but what is ?? Thanks

You put a shim where? Something is lose.. until you track down what is the cause of the rattle it will continue to do so, without the "shim"...

If the shim worked the last year why not do it again?

The shim is between the dash and windshield. It is not a "rattle" but rather sounds like the dash and window rubbing. The shim worked originally and it is still in there and I suppose I could keep shimming it but ...... the point is I would rather not keep sticking in shims because it looks like crap. I thought a lubricant may work but not sure if this is a good idea.
