I have a 2000 RX with 55K miles. Within the last 500 miles, my check engine light has come on. Went to Auto Zone and they scoped the problem and said that two of my emmision control sensors are bad. They also told me that the dealership had to replace these for free because of an EPA ruling that said that these should last 100K. I called the dealership and they said they knew nothing about this. Any similar stories or experiences from anyone out there would be appreciated.
Toyota down here erroneously told me it was the O2 sensors when it was actually a Fuel Air Sensor that had its metal sensing part covered with the oil from my K&N air filter. Used some brake dust cleaner and that did the trick. Were you getting Fuel Trim Lean by any chance?
I have been told that the O2 sensors should come under 7year/70K not under 4year/50K, but dealers will try anything.

Dealership just called...problem solved. It was the fuel cap not sealing properly and making the evaporative controls act incorrectly and generate error messages. New fuel cap, no charge.
