I remember Tony specifically told me he adjusts boost via vacuum but I don’t know enough to say if that’s how it’s done or not. It makes sense because the vacuum solenoid specifically controls the wastegate but idk if the wastegate actually sets boost levels
well if its humidity then am £@€¥ed since this part of the world hits 90%+ in sumy, dammit foota be changing these alonge with my oil changes 😅

lmao

It wouldn’t really make sense because Japan is probably more humid than most. Lexus definitely needs to revise it

BMW seems to use the same regulator even up to the twin turbo V8s but nobody reports any problems. I did notice BMW revised the part # at one point.... maybe Lexus hasn't caught on. I don't knnow. Worth trying.... the plug is different but that's a 10-second rig up with clippers and solder, some spade terminals. you can rig something up. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/11747626351/

I had mine changed at 7500 miles and now i'm 19000 and i'm surprised that I did not had to change it once again when I look at you or other users 4 or 6 times.

The point is that is possible for me to dot not notice the lake of power because I don't drive it everyday, I don't push hard all the time, the 2 other car that I drive are 2JZ, so i feel directly less power but can't feel directly if the difference is normal or too big.

The first time I have discovered the problem, it was because I've had some difficulties to burn a BMW 320D lol

The symptoms of a bad regulator has been the buzzing sound and/or boost fluctuations when monitoring the OEM F Sport gauge. Mine is making the sound, but it’s not doing it every time I drive, so it looks like it’s in the early stage of failure.

will you get the replacement and re-dyno test soon sheddy?

I just got more information what make the different in power between our 8ar with
the bme n20 it something about valve lifting timing/valvetronic or something call “VANOS”
the bmw n20 has it but we dont there re 2 benefits from “not to have that “VANOS”
1.Durability 2.engine is very strong this is the infomation i got so far..anybody want to
share knowlege that will be appreciated.

It is true the BMW N20 makes supreme power straight off the factory floor. Can't really figure it out yet but it could be valvetronic plus vanos, yes. Don't forget it's not only about rated #s, peak #s, but how much power the engine can make over a period of time (through it's powerband) and gearing. BMWs for decades tend to be very good performers for the #s they rate, but this is because BMW knows tuning and has a lot of experience at it.

As far as strength I think the 8AR from all the info on the web so far seems to be good. Who knows if bolts will start stretching and heads lifting once power levels go beyond a certain point. I guess we'll find out. Those who mod this new engine are brave for sure--that's a $15,000 engine i'm sure. Or cheaper on ebay I think. Time will tell. People found this out on the N20 the hard way. It does not like to be modded.

I will get it replaced soon, but i'll be doing a custom dyno tune next visit.

This is the tuner's FB page- https://www.facebook.com/Wilson-Chip...8855986552285/

He's from Puerto Rico, but he comes to south FL every month to tune cars.

loooool I agree mine already gave up few and had it replaced by agency twice then started taking care of it myself since it is not an expensive part....Tony told me that there is an option for aftermarket but it needs to be further tested

the 8ARfts has the same thing. Like most companies they have to give they’re technologies different names.
We have the the exact same technologies but it’s called VVTi-W instead.
